Kwan Runs Into Kabrhel

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Action folded to Martin Kabrhel in the hijack, who raised to 30,000. Chun Kwan defended in the big blind.

Kwan check-raised Kabrhel’s 30,000 bet to 110,000 on the 769 flop, and Kabrhel made the call.

The turn brought the 5 and this time Kwan led for 75,000, with Kabrhel again calling.

On the 3 river, Kwan fired a final bet of 150,000. After checking Kwan’s stack, Kabrhel announced all in, prompting an immediate snap-call.

Kwan tabled 98 for a straight, but Kabrhel revealed 108 for the higher straight, leaving Kwan with just crumbs.

“That’s why my grandmother always told me, never play eight-nine,” Kabrhel said.

In the very next hand, Kwan was automatically all in for 10,000 from the small blind against Breno Drumond on the button.

Chun Kwan: Q9All in
Breno Drumond: A9

The board ran out 4J8105, giving Drumond a flush and sending Kwan to the rail.
