Smiljkovic Never Bluffs, Sends Chufarin Home
Heads-up play was already underway with around 800,000 in the pot beside a Q♠2♠K♠Q♣ board.
The 5♥ river fell and Daniel Smiljkovic in the big blind shoved all-in for 650,000, sending Denys Chufarin, to his left, to the tank.
Chufarin couldn't stay in his seat as he pondered what to do next, with only around 30 minutes left before the day ended. He counted his chips and realized he was covered. He thought a few more seconds before making the call.
Smiljkovic tabled Q♦9♦ for trips, triggering Chufarin to say, "Don't you ever bluff?". Receiving no reply, he directed his question to the rest of the table who just chuckled. He continued to explain that he thought he had a great hand as he turned over 6♥6♠.
Chufarin continued talking to the table, looking for the tournament director, then finally asked, "What am I supposed to do now?" Roman Hrabec, who was at the table, replied, "Go home, I guess."
