Charles Moore

When Charles Moore, an elderly gent with Santa-like features, sat down at the same table as Richard Harris, the latter immediately began thumbing through his phone.

He found the picture he was looking for and showed it to the table.

"That's my father in Greece," Harris said.

Moore took a look at the photo and acknowledged the strong resemblance.

"What a handsome man that is," Moore said. "Tell my brother from another mother, I said hello."

Brown Down and Out

Level 38 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante
Peter Brown
Peter Brown

Peter Brown opened from under the gun and Akira Ide was all in for 8,000,000 in the big blind and action was back on Brown who made the call.

Akira Ide: A4All in
Peter Brown: Q10

Blindar was ahead and there was no change on the 6J735 runout, knocking Brown down to just a handful of big blinds.

In the next hand on the same table, Stanislav Blindar opened to 2,400,000 from middle position and action went to Brown who was now in the big blind. Having paid the ante, and the big blind, Brown had just 1,200,000 left not committed to the pot. He moved it all in and was at risk for his tournament life.

Peter Brown: 54All in
Stanislav Blindar: A6

The A29 flop was good for Blindar who picked up a pair of aces. There was no more luck for Brown and he hit the rail after seeing the 9 turn and 7 river.

Heart Attack Averted

Level 38 : Blinds 600,000/1,200,000, 1,200,000 ante

Chengyue He raised to 12,000,000 from the cutoff. Zheming Zhu, seated to his immediate left, went over the top all in. He made the call with less.

Chengyue He: 44All in
Zheming Zhu: JJ

Zhu's bigger pair was in control through the turn K66Q, and then the dealer bobbled the river card, which to many at the table made it look one of the fours He needed for the win.

Alas, the last card was the 5, five pip instead of four, and He excited in 40th place.

"I almost had a heart attack," Zhu said with chuckle and a sigh of relief.
