Paul Volpe: A♠Q♥10♥ / K♦J♥K♥A♥
Ryutaro Suzuki: J♠8♠2♠ / J♦3♥4♦Q♦
Yueqi Zhu: XxXx / 9♦J♣8♦2♦ / Xx
Paul Volpe completed and was all-in for 16,000 on third street against Ryutaro Suzuki and Yueqi Zhu. On fourth street, Suzuki bet and Zhu called before Suzuki check-called on fifth street. There was no more betting action after that which was good news for Volpe, who said "I have at least aces up".
Suzuki won the side pot before Brad Owen pointed out "don't you have a royal flush" with the down cards close to each other. Volpe spread his board and indeed had a royal flush, his first in a HORSE tournament according to the table chat. Thanks to the antes in play, Volpe earned a quadruple up very early on.
Daniel Negreanu will wrap up his most profitable World Series of Poker in years on Wednesday, and he'll finish the summer in contention for WSOP Player of the Year.
The GGPoker ambassador came into the series having played minimal poker since the WSOP Paradise series in December. But he didn't show any rust and not only won his second bracelet in three years, he reached four final tables and still has a chance at one more in the $25,000 High Roller H.O.R.S.E. event.
Negreanu bagged an above-average stack Monday on Day 1 and will return to action at 1 p.m. PT for Day 2. It could be his final shot at another deep run at what has been a successful 2026 WSOP for the Poker Hall of Famer.
The action is underway with four new entries on Day 2 of which two already showed up. First up will be Seven Card Stud which may result in some action among the shortest stacks returning to their seats.
The final mixed event of the 2026 World Series of Poker is one of the most prestigious on the calendar, Event #97: $25,000 High Roller H.O.R.S.E.. The highest buy-in remaining on the summer poker schedule will see its second day of action get underway at 1 p.m. today.
Yesterday saw 109 hopefuls make their way to the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas with the goal of finding a bag for today's Day 2. However, just 64 were able to advance. Registration for the event remains open until the start of Level 13 around 3:10 p.m. One reentry is also available for all players, so it remains to be seen if last year's mark of 150 entrants will be surpassed.
Leading the pack into the day is Chino Rheem, who finished with 641,000, good for more than four starting stacks. Close behind him is Arthur Morris (638,000), while Patrick Stacey (552,000) rounds out the podium in third as he looks to claim his second bracelet of the summer.
