Kempe Can't Fold; Sends His Chips to Politano

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Bruno Politano
Bruno Politano

With about 70,000 chips already in the pot, Rainer Kempe (button) clashed with Bruno Politano (small blind) on the turn reading {2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades}.

Politano checked to Kempe, who fired 19,000. Politano went into about two-minute deep thought. In the meantime, he took a sip from his drink. Then he said he was all in.

Kempe had only about 40,000 left behind. He looked at his remaining chips, shook his head and moved them towards the middle, saying "I can't fold" with a disappointing tone in his voice.

Kempe sensed bad news and he was right as he saw a devastating {A-Spades}{9-Spades} in the showdown to leave his {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} drawing dead. The river {2-Diamonds} was only a formality as Kempe was already on his way. The Brazilian November Niner slowly stacked up a new ton of chips from the huge pot. When Politano finished, it became clear he just broke the 300,000 chip-mark.

Brett Murray Denies Joseph the Chip Lead

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

When we arrived at the table we could see that the flop was the {J-Spades}{5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}. 3 players were involved in the hand.

The player in the big blind checked, Jeremy Joseph bet 8,500, Brett Murray called and the big blind folded.

On the turn, the {A-Clubs} came which made both players check.

The river brought the {7-Hearts}, Joseph check-folded to the 18,000 bet made by Murray.

Bonomo Keeps Bossing

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Justin Bonomo
Justin Bonomo

Aditya Agarwal is the new sheriff in town. He has two full piles of 5,000-chips in front of him, in addition to loads of chips of other denominations. In all, he's grinding 350,000.

But there are other sharks hungry for the chip lead. Those feature Justin Bonomo, who keeps it rolling, too.

Bonomo's table is very entertaining. He's sitting left to Shivanraif Abdine who's also handling a big stack, and so is Sylvain Loosli who shares the flops with Bonomo and Abdine.

It didn't take long to wait and see interesting battles. The atmosphere got tense when Abdine opened to 5,200 from the cutoff and Bonomo three-bet him to 16,500 in position.

Abdine called and the pot remained of the same size through the board {2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{Q-Spades}, with just one exception. Bonomo didn't check back the river, ending the peace with a 39,000 bet. Abdine folded.

The following hand saw Bonomo open to 5,500 from the cutoff and Michael Sanders moved all in for his remaining 23,800. Bonomo asked for a count and called when the price was confirmed.

Sanders was ahead with {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs} against {J-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}. He came close to doubling, but eventually couldn't avoid a lethal {J-Hearts} on the river.

Soik Doubles Through Berkey Again

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Matt Berkey
Matt Berkey

Looking at Matt Berkey's stack, it's fair to say that there haven't been many players who would successfully tangle with the American high roller in the Event #16: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed.

But Mark Soik might be one of the few who have the vibes to avoid Berkey's domination. Soik doubled through Berkey earlier in this level, hitting a straight with king-queen against Berkey's ace-nine.

That victory clearly wasn't enough for Soik, who doubled through Berkey once again just a few moments ago. Soik had a worse starting hand again, and it was a bigger problem this time as he was in only about a 20-percent shape to scoop the pot.

Sporting the Green Bay Packers jacket, Soik was all in with {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} for 26,300, trailing to Berkey's {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}. The flop {K-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades} kept Berkey in lead but Soik hit his bingo on the {6-Clubs} turn. The {5-Hearts} on the river sealed the deal for Soik.

He apologized for cracking Berkey, but he took the bad beat very well. It was only a minor sting as Berkey is still crushing with close to 300,000 in chips.

Loosli Knocks Lau Out

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Sylvain Loosli
Sylvain Loosli

We arrived at the table to see {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{2-Spades} on the board already.

Sylvain Loosli, on the big blind, bet 22,500 and was called by Ka Kwan Lau sitting on the under the gun position.

The river was the {8-Spades}, Loosli proceeded with going all in and had Lau covered. Lau took his time and, in the end, made the call. Loosli showed the {5-Clubs}{5-Spades} for a full house and Lau threw his cards into the muck and grabbed his stuff.
