The Check-Raise That Never Was

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Jeffery Trudeau raised to 5,200 from the button, Doug Polk called from the big blind, and then checked in the dark.

The flop came {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs} and Trudeau checked behind.

The {Q-Spades} fell on the turn and Polk bet 7,300. Trudeau called.

The river brought the {4-Hearts} and both players checked.

"Four," Polk declared before Trudeau flipped over {A-Spades}{9-Spades} for a pair of aces. Polk indicated that he had {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and had hoped to check-raise the flop.

"It was gonna be a check-raise, but normally there has to be a bet first," quipped Polk.
