Alex Richmond Defeats Tom McEvoy to Advance to Day 2 in His First-Ever WSOP Bracelet Event

Tom McEvoy limped in on the button, and Alex Richmond raised to 1,600. McEvoy moved all in for his last 16,000, and Richmond called.

McEvoy, a four-time WSOP bracelet winner, found himself at risk with {k-Clubs}{5-Clubs}, all in against the Canadian's {a-Spades}{7-Spades}.

The flop came {7-Clubs}{4-}{2-}, giving Richmond a pair of sevens and keeping him in the lead. The turn was the {q-Clubs}, and McEvoy picked up a flush draw to go with his overcard. The river was the {j-Hearts}, and McEvoy was eliminated.

Richmond entered in his first-ever WSOP bracelet event today and finds himself moving on to Day 2 and already in the money, guaranteed at least a min-cash worth $4,837.

Wilson Darella Makes Quads to Take Down His Table

Over in Amazon Tan, a loud cheer came from the middle of the room, and Wilson Darella was celebrating with his arms in the air. According to the dealer, he rivered quad eights to defeat his opponent and advance to Day 2 tomorrow.

Darella hails from Brazil and explained how happy he was to be moving on. He immediately got on the phone with a family member and was grinning from ear to ear.

He bagged 59,400 chips to move on to Day 2 tomorrow, where he'll have a shot at defeating another table.
