Welcome back to Day 2 of Event #44: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. Yesterday the field was cut from 399 runners down to just 154, but plenty of big names are still alive in the field. Two in particular worth keeping an eye on today are James Obst (62,100) and Daniel Negreanu (44,900). Both men are in the top five of the World Series of Poker Player of the Year race, with Negreanu sitting in fifth and Obst holding the top spot for now.
They will join Andre Akkari who bagged up the chip lead last night with 110,100. Also returning are Phil Hellmuth (36,100), Jason Mercier (76,400), Natasha Mercier , (21,000), Ben Yu (44,900), Jeff Madsen (85,000) and Scotty Nguyen (84,300), to name a few.
Action is set to kick off at 2 p.m. PDT with a plan to play 10 levels to complete the day. Of the returning field, 60 players will make the money with a min-cash being worth $4,523 and a final table appearance being worth at least $21,007. The eventual champion of the event will lock up $256,226, 167.1 Player of the Year points, and of course, a World Series of Poker gold bracelet.
