Jeff Hakim Wins One

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Jeff Hakim opened to 1,500 under the gun. The player in the cutoff called, as did the big blind.

The flop was {8-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{8-Clubs}. The big blind checked. Hakim checked, as well. The player in the cutoff bet 2,500. The big blind folded, and Hakim check-called. The turn was the {a-Hearts} and was checked around. The {4-Spades} river completed the board, and Hakim bet 8,000. His opponent instantly folded.

Mike Linster With the Shock Elimination

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

On a {5-Spades}{6-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} flop Mike Linster and an opponent got it all in.

"Do you have the nuts?" asked Linster's opponent.

"No," replied Linster. His opponent showed {4-Spades}{8-Hearts} for a flopped straight, "Well that's unfortunate," said Linster showing {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

The turn was the {8-Spades} and the river the {5-Diamonds}, though, and Linster ran down a full house to eliminate his opponent.

Another player who folded preflop told Linster that he had folded pocket sevens. Factoring this in, Linster's odds of winning the hand were less than one percent on the flop.

Eric Reyes Spikes a Queen

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

We heard exclamations from another table and rushed over to find the cards on their backs and a full board of {10-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{q-Hearts} out.

It turns out that Eric Reyes' {q-Clubs}{q-Spades} had rivered a two-outer against an opponent's {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}. One of his tablemates was trying to congratulate him, but Reyes remained calm.

"I've been on the other end of that," he said, stacking his chips quietly.
