Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

The player in the cutoff limped in. Quan Zhou was in the small blind and potted to 38,000. Aleksei Altshuller was in the big blind and re-potted to 160,000. The cutoff folded, and Zhou put the rest of his chips in, totalling 79,000.

Aleksei Altshuller: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{4-Spades}{4-Clubs}

The board ran out {k-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}, and Zhou doubled up after pairing his ace.

Le Busts Polone and Watson

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

Toby Lewis was the second casualty in the money, and soon after, Nghia Le scored a double elimination by sending Gavin Polone and Andrew Watson to the rail. The chips went in preflop with Polone as shortest stack of the trio. Watson had barely more, while Le had both comfortably covered.

Gavin Polone: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Andrew Watson: {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Nghia Le: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The board ran out {J-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}, and the ace on the river gave Le the best hand, knocking out two opponents with a pair of aces.

Brunca Gets Flushed by Tsang

Level 17 : 4,000/8,000, 0 ante

On a flop of {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}, the action between Yan Shing Tsang and Fernando Brunca Garcia escalated, and the latter ended up all in and at risk for his last 150,000. Tsang eventually looked him up, and the following cards were turned over:

Fernando Brunca Garcia: {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Yan Shing Tsang: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{9-Hearts}

The {3-Hearts} turn instantly improved Tsang to a flush, and the {2-Spades} river was just a formality, as Brunca was already drawing dead.

Scott Davies Stays Alive

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Johnny Lodden limped from the button, Norbert Szecsi called from the small blind, and Scott Davies made a pot-sized raise to 40,000 from the big blind. Lodden called, and Szecsi folded.

Davies shoved in the dark for about 40,000 before the flop came {A-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Spades}. Upon seeing the board, Lodden quickly folded, and Davies showed {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} as he took the pot. He's still extremely short-stacked, but he's still around.

Lamb Busts O'Hara

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

Chris Sensoli and Ian O'Hara were the next two casualties. The latter opened to 25,000 with another 38,000 behind, and Ben Lamb called in the big blind. The flop came {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}. Lamb bet 24,000, then instantly called the shove of O'Hara.

Ian O'Hara: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Ben Lamb: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

The {6-Diamonds} turn and {Q-Clubs} river failed to improve O'Hara, and he joined the rail in 59th place.

Straight is Good

Level 18 : 5,000/10,000, 0 ante

With about 75,000 in the pot and the board reading {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{j-Hearts} {q-Hearts}, three players remained in the hand.

Robert Cowen checked in the big blind. Johnny Lodden was in the cutoff and bet 56,000. Norbert Szecsi was on the button and called, as did Cowen. The river was the {q-Clubs}, and Cowen and Lodden checked. Szecsi tanked for a couple of minutes and then checked as well.

Cowen and Lodden both verbalized having two pair, and Szecsi said, "I have a straight." He flipped over {k-Spades}{9-Hearts}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs} for the king-high straight to win the pot.

Racener Climbing

John Racener earlier this summer
John Racener earlier this summer

John Racener raised to 23,000 from the button, and Benjamin Eilers called from the big blind.

The flop came {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, and Eilers checked. Racener bet 16,000, and Eilers called. The turn brought the {Q-Spades}, and both players checked. The {5-Diamonds} fell on the river, and Eilers checked. Racener bet 29,000, and after brief consideration, Eilers called.

Racener tabled {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for the nut flush, and Eilers mucked.
