Andy Spears Knocks Out Ryan Olisar

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Andy Spears raised to 1,300 from the button, and Ryan Olisar shoved all in for his remaining 11,325. Spears took some time to think and decided to call in the end.

Andy Spears: {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Ryan Olisar: {K-Spades}{10-Clubs}

The board ran out {Q-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} — no help for Olisar, and he was eliminated.

Harder Shoves the River

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Christian Harder was in the big blind, battling against the small blind. Harder three-bet to 4,500 over a raise to 1,450, and his right-hand neighbor called.

They went to the {6-Spades}{9-Hearts}{J-Hearts} flop, where they both checked. Harder saved his continuation bet for the {K-Clubs} turn, betting 4,500 after his opponent had checked. He received a call. The {A-Hearts} completed the board, and the small blind checked yet again. Harder took all of his 15,750 remaining chips and moved them toward the middle.

The small blind weighed the pros and cons for more than a minute but eventually chose the passive move, letting Harder win without showdown.

The Grinder Grinds at the Top

Level 7 : 250/500, 75 ante

Michael Mizrachi and a big stack — that's a very common pairing in nearly any tournament the three-time bracelet winner enters.

This $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em event is no exception, with Mizrachi having already accumulated around 120,000.

His latest addition came when he bet about 18,000 on the {8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Spades} turn, enough to cover his opponent's remaining chips. The rival called, relying on Lady Luck.

Michael Mizrachi: {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Opponent {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Mizrachi was up against a combo draw, and the {4-Clubs} river confirmed his victory, sending his opponent to the rail.

Mizrachi Still Crushing

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Michael Mizrachi was already in contention for the chip lead, and he just added more to his already massive stack. This time, he got a player who had about 15,000 all in preflop, with Mizrachi holding {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} to dominate his opponent's {a-}{q-}. The board ran out {7-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{4-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, keeping the ladies best for "Grinder."

Ivan Luca, pictured in a different event.

Ivan Luca had a raise to 2,000 in front of him. He was on the button and considering whether to call the all-in shove of the player in the big blind.

"You're not calling," the big blind said confidently. "I'll show you when you fold."

After about another minute though, Luca dropped in the chips to call.

Luca: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Big blind: {a-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}, and Luca's opponent doubled for just under 21,000 with aces up.

Metalidi Eliminated... Until He Doubles

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Artem Metalidi (as seen in a previous event)
Artem Metalidi (as seen in a previous event)

With {8-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{J-Spades} on the board, Artem Metalidi bet 4,000 into the pot. He was in the cutoff, facing off with Shaun Deeb, who was in the big blind. Deeb called.

Deeb checked again on the {K-Diamonds} river, and Metalidi moved all in for his 13,125.

"Thirteen one-twenty-five?" Deeb asked, preparing the required amount for call. He shuffled with the calling chips and finally threw them in.

Metalidi turned up {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}, and Deeb showed his {8-Spades}{6-Spades}, following the all-in showdown rule.

Suddenly, Metalidi stood up, put his headphones over his ears, and walked away. He was 15 yards away from the table when Deeb called him back. "You're good, you win."

Metalidi turned back in confusion, coming back to his seat.

"You have a straight."

Metalidi looked at his cards, still processing what had happened. "Oh, I have a straight? I didn't know I had a straight!"

The board was still lying face-up, and Metalidi studied it again, realizing he had the nuts.

Deeb and the other players at the table were laughing. "I'm like, yeah, he looked like he didn't have it," Deeb said.

"Good read by me!" Deeb continued in amusement, making fun of the unusual situation. "I'm proud of myself!"

"I wasn't happy when he showed the nuts until he walked away," smiled Deeb, taking Metalidi's mis-read with a grin.

Artem Metalidi had been eliminated in his mind, but he's still in contention.

They say a "chip and a chair" are all that's needed. Metalidi lost his chair for a moment, but he's now sitting firmly back in it.
