Wong Boats Up

Level 6 : 200/400, 50 ante

With about 5,500 in the pot and the board reading {9-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}, the small blind checked. A player in the big blind bet out 3,500. The hijack called and Danny Wong in the cutoff raised all in. The small blind folded and the big blind put all of his chips in, totalling roughly 7,000. The hijack tanked for a minute and folded.

Wong tabled {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for a set of tens. The big blind showed {q-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a flush draw and a gutshot straight draw.

The turn was the {a-Spades} and the river the {9-Spades}, giving Wong a full house and a massive stack at this stage of the tournament.

Buffer Takes a Gut-Shot

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Peter Columbe was in late position and moved all in for 3,400. Bruce Buffer was in the hijack and called.

Columbe tabled {k-Hearts}{j-Spades} and Buffer showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

The flop was {4-Clubs}{a-Spades}{q-Hearts}, looking good for Buffer. The {2-Spades} hit the turn and, barring a ten, Buffer had the pot locked up. The river was flipped over and, low and behold, it was the {10-Hearts}, giving Columbe the straight and keeping him alive.
