Obst Skips the Third Barrel

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Randy Ohel raised to 3,200 from the cutoff, and James Obst three-bet pot from the button, making it 8,100 to go. Ohel called.

Obst continued on the {8-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{K-Spades} flop, betting 6,500. Ohel checked-call to see the turn. The {6-Clubs} hit the felt, and Ohel checked to Obst, who went for the second barrel, pricing the river card at 16,000. Ohel double-checked his cards and called. On the {3-Spades} river, Ohel checked fairly quickly again. This time, it was Obst who peeked at his cards, deciding whether or not to bet again. He decided for the latter, saving himself the chips from the hypothetical third barrel.

"Ace-king," Ohel announced, likely glad that Obst didn't bet on the last round. Ohel's {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} was the winning hand, as Obst sent his cards to the muck.

Rast Flops a Boat

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Brian Rast was in the small blind, fighting against big blind David "ODB" Baker.

The flop was {2-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}, and Rast led out for what looked to be 3,200. Baker responded with a raise to 11,000, and Rast called. Rast let Baker bet the {A-Spades} turn, check-calling another 20,000. The {7-Clubs} river brought yet another check from Rast, and this time, Baker checked, as well.

Rast turned up his {Q-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a flopped full house. Baker conceded the pot to the defending champion, sending his cards to the muck.

All High Hands in Lowball

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

2-7 Triple Draw Lowball

John Racener raised from middle position, Jake Abdalla called from the small blind, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier defended his big blind. All players drew two cards on the first draw. Racener bet, and both players called.

Abdalla exchanged two cards on the second draw, while Grospellier and Racener both took one. After two checks, Racener bet and received two calls.

On the final draw, all players drew one card and checked the final betting round.

Abdalla showed {3-}{3-}{8-}{6-}{2-} for a pair of threes. Grospellier couldn't beat that and mucked. Racener smiled and mucked, as well.

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Omaha Hi-Lo

Paul Volpe raised from under the gun, Phil Hui called from the button, and Esther Taylor called from the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, and Taylor checked to Volpe, who bet. Both Hui and Taylor called to see the {Q-Clubs} turn, which was checked around. The river was the {A-Hearts}, and Taylor checked to Volpe, who bet. Both Hui and Taylor folded, giving Volpe the pot.

Mercier Pays Three Barrels

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Under the gun, David Oppenheim raised to 2,200, and Jason Mercier defended his big blind.

Oppenheim barreled the {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} board, betting 2,500 on the flop and 5,000 on the turn. Mercier called on both occassions. Mercier checked on the river, as well, and Oppenheim cut out one more bet, placing in 12,000. The dealer verified the amount on Mercier's request, and Mercier spent good two minutes figuring out his plan. Eventually, he decided to call again.

"Sixes full," Openheim said, turning up his {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts} to win the pot.

One Pair Does It

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Seven Card Stud

Daher: {X-}{X-} / {10-Clubs}{K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} / {X-}
Obst: {X-}{X-} / {5-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades} / {X-}
Owen: {X-}{X-} / {J-Spades}{4-Hearts}{9-Spades}{A-Spades} / {X-}

Albert Daher completed on third street, James Obst raised, Adam Owen made it three bets, Daher called, and Obst called. Owen bet fourth, fifth and sixth streets, receiving calls from both players each time. All players checked the river.

Owen showed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{8-Hearts} for just a pair of aces. It was good, though, as both Daher and Obst mucked their hands.

Volpe Coolers Taylor to Soar Over 400k

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Esther Taylor
Esther Taylor

No-Limit Hold'em

Nearly 200 big blinds filled the pot as small blind Esther Taylor and big blind Paul Volpe approched the river of the {10-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} board. Taylor checked, and Volpe fired a bet worth just under the half of the pot, making it 65,000 to call.

Taylor was agonized. She apologized to the table for taking her time to make the decision, analyzing the previous streets while holding calling chips in her hands. She had around 125,000 left, and a call with a worse hand would wound her stack tremendously.

Taylor, however, couldn't give up her monster, calling.

Volpe rolled over {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, and Taylor briefly opened her {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}, proving a hardly avoidable cooler.

Volpe, meanwhile, soared among the top stacks.

Sexton showed {A-}{3-}{A-} for a nine-seven, Cates mucked, and Sexton won the pot.

Turner Rivered

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Seven Card Stud

Turner: {X-}{X-} / {A-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} / {X-}

On fourth street, Jon Turner checked, Brian Rast bet, Anthony Zinno folded, and Turner called. Rast bet fifth street, and Turner called again. Rast bet sixth street, Turner raised with three hearts showing, and Rast called. Rast checked the river to Turner, who bet. Rast check-raised, which sent Turner into deep thought. After a minute, he flicked in the extra chips for a call.

Rast rolled over {Q-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for a full house, and Turner mucked with disgust.

Shak Keeps Falling

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Daniel Negreanu was in a pot against Dan Shak, with Negreanu sitting in the big blind and Shak directly to his left. They were on the {K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{A-Hearts} flop, where Negreanu check-called Shak's bet of 5,000. The {3-Hearts} turn checked through, and Negreanu led out for 20,000 when the {4-Spades} river landed.

Shak couldn't press the call button, leaving himself with 110,000 chips.
