Welcome to Day 1 of Event #65: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em (30-minute levels)

Happy Fourth of July, and welcome to the start of Event #65: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em (30-minute levels) which is set to begin at 11 a.m. Last year there were 1,397 entries in this event, and Corey Thompson took home the coveted gold WSOP bracelet and first prize of $221,163. Thompson won his first WSOP bracelet over a quick two days of play and cashed for his biggest win ever. Thompson has cashed twice during this year’s series as well, so he might be back to defend his title.

[Removed:4] finished in second place last year and has cashed once during this WSOP series, so that’s another name to look out for. Terry Fan came in sixth place last year and has four WSOP cashes this summer with 57th place being his best result. Ryan Pochedly and Benjamin Reinhart finished in eighth and ninth, respectively, and they both have cashed twice this summer, so they might be back as well to try to better their results compared to last year.

This will be a two-day event. Players who enter the event will receive 5,000 in tournament chips. Levels will be 30 minutes long with 20-minute breaks every four levels and a 90-minute dinner break after Level 12 which will be around 5.40 p.m. Twenty levels of play are scheduled for today with registration open till the start of Level 7 (approximately 2.20 p.m).
