Sam Grizzle vs. Jared Talarico

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Talarico: {x-}{x-} / {8-}{9-}{7-}{9-} / {x-}
Grizzle: {x-}{x-} / {8-}{2-}{8-}{4-} / {x-}

Jared Talarico bet on third and fourth street with Sam Grizzle calling. Both players checked fifth street and Talarico bet sixth and seventh street. Grizzle called.

Talarico showed {a-}{4-}{j-}. There was some confusion with Grizzle craning his neck to see. "Is that a pair?" he asked. It was, with Talarico having a jack low.

"Oh, a jack low," said Grizzle, and he turned over {10-}{5-}{3-} for a ten low and took down the pot.

Obst: {3-}{5-} / {4-}{6-}{10-}{q-} / {9-}

Hageman had a king with a draw to a seven and Obst had a ten with a draw to a six. Both players bricked sixth and on seventh, Hageman hit a four, giving him a seven low. Obst hit only a nine and Hageman doubled up.

Good News and Bad News for the Poker Brat

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

"I've got good news and bad news, Phil," said Sam Grizzle as he approached Hellmuth's table. "The good news is that you're still in the tournament." Everyone at the table laughed. "The bad news," continued Grizzle, "is that I'm here on your left!"

"I'm glad you're here, Sam," said Hellmuth.

"Me too. Hey! How about a last longer?" said Grizzle. Hellmuth out-chipped, with the 14-time bracelet winner having around 100,000, and Grizzle around half that.

Despite Grizzle offering 2:1 on the last longer, it remains to be seen whether Hellmuth will bite.

Freedman: {x-}{x-} / {6-}{10-}{q-}{q-} / {x-}
Baker: {x-}{x-} / {6-}{a-}{k-}{a-} / {x-}
Matusow: {x-}{x-} / {3-}{10-}{9-}{3-} / {x-}

We heard someone cry out, "Please, God, don't let me get unlucky on the river," on a neighboring table and hurried over to find Mike Matusow, hands stretched out skyward in a three-way monster pot on sixth street.

"That gets the reporters rushing over," said David "ODB" Baker, a participant in the hand. "By that he means he's been a dog on every street!"

Matusow had bet on sixth street, with Wendy Freedman and Baker to act behind him. Both called.

On seventh street, Baker bet and Matusow called.

Baker showed {8-}{4-}{2-} for an eight low and Matusow obligingly showed {7-}{2-}{a-} for a nine low.

"I started Ace-Deuce-Three," said Matusow, "Nice hand."
