Stephen Pavlichek Knocks One Out, Chipping Back Up

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With the board reading {9-Spades}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {7-Hearts}, Steve Pavlichek was on the button and his opponent in the big blind moved all in for 22,200. Pavlichek called with pocket jacks for a straight and his opponent's {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for two pair was tabled before he hit the rail just before the break.

Pavlichek, who was down to just 9,500 chips not long ago, is now up around 100,000.

Painter Still Applying Coats of Pressure

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We caught up with Jameson Painter facing off against one opponent on a flop of {A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}. Painter was on the button and action had checked to him. He bet 3,000 and his opponent called.

The turn was the {Q-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {K-Clubs} on the river. Painter's opponent bet 8,000 and Painter decided to reraise, making it 35,000 to call. Painter's opponent frustratedly flicked his cards into Painter's bet, folding, and Painter took down the pot, adding to his growing stack here on day 2.

Nick Schulman Dislikes the River

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

The action was folded to the cutoff who raised to 2,800 and Nick Schulman called from the button. The flop came {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and the cutoff led out for 3,000. Schulman called and the {3-Clubs} landed on the turn.

The cutoff checked and Schulman bet 4,500. His opponent called and the river brought the {a-Hearts}. The cutoff led out for 8,000 and Schulman thought for a couple minutes. He eventually decided to fold as he shook his head about the ace on the river.

Langrock Loses Ground

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

With about 25,000 chips in the middle, the completed board read {A-Spades}{6-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{5-Spades} and recent bracelet winner Sebastian Langrock was heads up against a player in middle position. He checked and his opponent checked behind. Langrock flipped over {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} but his opponent tabled {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and took the pot, having paired his ace on the flop.

Trips for Neuville

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Joining the action on the {Q-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} turn, Pierre Neuville checked out of the big blind and Chris DeMaci bet 8,700 on the button. Neuville tossed in two T-5,000 chips for the call and checked again the {9-Diamonds} turn. DeMaci clarified that the Belgian had checked and did so as well to see Neuville turn over {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for trips queens.

That was good enough to win the pot, as DeMaci mucked.

Following a limp from early position, Steven van Zadelhoff raised to 3,600.

With the action on Richard Seymour in the cutoff, he three-bet to 11,300.

The blinds folded, as did the limper, and van Zadelhoff folded too to see Seymour collect the pot.

Polk Tries to Pick on Grafton but Gets Pressured by Funke

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante
Doug Polk
Doug Polk

Sam Grafton opened with a raise to 2,200. Next to act was Doug Polk who put in a three bet to 6,800. Jason Funke flatted on the button and Grafton called as well, taking the three players to a flop.

On the {3-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} flop, action checked all the way around. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and Grafton and Polk both checked over to Funke. Funke put out a big bet of 14,000 and Grafton got out of the way while Polk called.

On the {6-Spades} river, Polk checked again. Funke fired a bet of 23,000. Polk dropped into the tank and let out a couple of groans.

"I just wanted to pick on Sam," Polk said. Eventually Polk called and Funke showed {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} for a missed flush draw and ace high while Polk had the best hand with {K-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and he took down the pot.

Shulman Loses Some

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A player in early position raised to 2,500, the next player to act called, Luigi Knoppers called from middle position, as did Barry Shulman, the button called, and the big blind also called.

Six players saw a flop of {K-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{3-Clubs} and they all checked.

The turn brought the {10-Spades} and action checked to Shulman. He bet 9,000, the button called, and everyone else folded.

The river was the {3-Spades} and Shulman checked. The button bet 13,000 and Shulman mucked.
