Ruslan Gazaev Slays "The Dragon"

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
David Pham
David Pham

David "The Dragon" Pham moved all in under the gun for roughly 400,000. Action folded around to Ruslan Gazaev who thought for a bit, then made the call from the big blind.

Pham: {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Gazaev: {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}

The flop was safe for Pham when it came {6-Spades}{6-Hearts}{J-Clubs}, but that changed on the {Q-Diamonds} turn where Gazaev took the lead. He further improved on the {Q-Hearts} river and his three of a kind were good to slay "The Dragon" and remove him from the tournament.

Florian Lohnert Eliminates Clint Tolbert

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Florian Lohnert
Florian Lohnert

Clint Tolbert raised to 50,000 and Sebastien Comel three-bet to 155,000. Florian Lohnert then four-bet to 365,000. Action was back on Tolbert who five-bet jammed for 1,673,000. Comel folded and Lohnert called.

Tolbert: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}
Lohnert: {a-Spades}{a-Clubs}

"Let's see some diamonds," said Tolbert before the flop was dealt. The flop had two diamonds, but sadly for him it came {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, giving his opponent a full house and reducing Tolbert's outs to running queens. The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and the river the {3-Spades} and Tolbert was eliminated.

Thissa Desilva Takes from Richard Gryko

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Richard Gryko
Richard Gryko

On the last hand before break, Richard Gryko raised to 54,000 in late position and Thissa Desilva defended his big blind. The flop came {A-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Desilva checked. Gryko bet 42,000 and Desilva check-raised to 125,000. Gryko called and the turn was the {Q-Hearts}. Desilva led out 145,000 and Gryko called.

They both checked the {5-Spades} river and Desilva's {A-Clubs}{4-Hearts} for two pair was good for the pot, as the players started heading on break.

Becker Loses a Chunk to Dwek

Level 22 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante
Jonathan Dwek and Johannes Becker
Jonathan Dwek and Johannes Becker

Jonathan Dwek opened with a raise to 60,000 from the cutoff. Next to act was Johannes Becker who put in a three-bet, making it 165,000 to play. Action folded around and Dwek called.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} and Dwek checked to Becker who thought for about 30 seconds before putting out a bet of 120,000. Dwek called quickly.

On the {3-Clubs} turn, Dwek checked again, then quickly called a bet of 250,000 from Becker. The {3-Hearts} on the river earned checks from both players.

"I have an ace," Dwek said, showing {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}. Becker nodded then mucked his hand. That awarded the pot to Dwek while the Poker Player's Championship runner-up took a big dent to his stack.
