Moneymaker Loses Some

Level 9 : 400/800, 100 ante

In a hand that occurred just before the break, the player on the button raised to 1,500, Chris Moneymaker three-bet from the big blind, the button four-bet jammed for about 16,000, and Moneymaker called to put his opponent at risk.

Moneymaker: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}

Moneymaker's opponent had the preflop advantage with her tens and the former Main Event champion needed help from the deck to win the coin flip. The board ran out {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, providing no help to Moneymaker, and his opponent took the pot to double up.

Nguyen Staying Active

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

Chip leader Tai Nguyen has been scooping pots all day, and he just took down another one with some aggression on the turn. This pot was three handed, and the board read {10-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. John Gordon checked, as did Nguyen, and the cutoff bet out 7,000. Gordon called,and Nguyen put out a raise to 17,500.

This raise represented most of the cutoff's stack, and he tanked for a couple of minutes before folding. Gordon immediately folded after, and the cutoff couldn't hide his frustration, claiming to have folded a flush, {4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Nguyen seemed surprised to hear this, but didn't offer any insight as to whether he had that hand beaten or not as he raked in the chips.

Shane Foglietta was in early position and raised to 1,300. Dan Heimiller was in the cutoff and three-bet to 4,000, Foglietta called.

The flop was {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds} and Foglietta check-called Heimiller's bet of 2,000.

The turn was the {q-Spades} and both players checked. The river was the {8-Diamonds} and both checked again. Foglietta tabled {k-Clubs}{3-Spades} for two pair and Heimiller mucked his cards.

Strelitz: {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-}{K-}

Strelitz had the preflop advantage in the race with his jacks and his opponent needed help from the deck in order to double up. The board ran out {Q-Clubs}{5-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and Strelitz's jacks held up for him to take the pot and eliminate his opponent.

Yuan Calls His Shot

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante
Chunlei Yuan

"This is the table you want to watch," big stack Chunlei Yuan said. "Watch this hand."

Yuan raised it up to 1,400 in early position, and the button called. Jesse Yaginuma was in the small blind, and after about 20 seconds in the tank, he moved all in.

"You're watching right? This is the hand," Yuan said as he announced all in over the top. The button wasn't thrilled with proceedings, and reluctantly folded his hand to lead to an all in showdown.

Yuan: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}
Yaginuma: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}

The table got a good laugh as the cards were tabled, but Yuan was undeterred. "All good I win this one," he said, and sure enough, the flop came down {Q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{4-Spades}, giving him a broadway draw and the nut flush draw. The {K-Diamonds} hit the turn, and Yaginuma was left drawing to a chop. The {4-Diamonds} hit the river, leading to continued laughter from the table. Even Yaginuma had a smile on his face in the aftermath of that hand as he got up to leave.

Yuan stacked his new chips, and he is one of the chip leaders with 125,000.

Moneymaker Gets Paid

Level 8 : 300/600, 75 ante

With about 10,000 in the pot and the board reading {2-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Clubs} action was heads up and the player under the gun checked. Moneymaker was in middle position and fired out a bet of 7,000. After some deliberation, Moneymaker was called and flipped over {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. His opponent mucked his hand and Moneymaker added to his stack.
