Kassouf Applying Pressure

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante
William Kassouf

With about 7,000 chips already in the pot and the board reading {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}, the player in the small blind bet 2,500, and William Kassouf raised to 7,325 from middle position. The player in the hijack folded, and the small blind went into the tank for several minutes. He asked Kassouf how much he had behind, which was 11,600.

"Whatever you have, you're behind," said Kassouf.

His opponent believed him and folded {J-}{J-} face-up. Kassouf tabled {9-Spades}{6-Clubs} for two pair, nines and sixes as he took the pot.

"Whenever there's a nine on the flop, just check it down," Kassouf said.

Arsenault Cracks Aces

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

A player in early position raised to 700. Corey Arsenault was in late position and moved all in for 5,675. The player in the small blind called, and the original raiser folded.

Corey Arsenault: {q-Hearts}{q-Spades}
Small blind: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}

The flop was {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}, keeping the aces well in front, but the turn was the {q-Clubs}, spiking Arsenault's hand. After the river paired with the {j-Hearts}, Arsenault was paid his double-up.

Men Nguyen Felted

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante
Men Nguyen
Men Nguyen

Men Nguyen was down to his last 425 chips and got them into the middle before the flop against four other players. There was a side pot of approximately 1,000.

The flop came {K-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}, and action checked all the way around. The turn brought the {A-Hearts}, and action checked to the button, who bet 1,500. One player called from middle position, and the other two folded. The river was the {9-Spades}, and the middle-position player checked. The button started reaching for chips, and the middle-position player folded.

The button tabled {A-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} for two pair, aces and nines. Nguyen tabled {K-Spades}{2-Hearts} for flopped kings and deuces, and the button took both the main and side pots with the better two pair to eliminate Nguyen.

Ferguson Eliminated

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

POY hopeful Chris Ferguson made a preflop move with {a-}{7-} after Alon Guttman opened on the button. Ferguson had about 9,000 chips remaining and was called by Guttman, who tabled {9-}{9-}. The board ran out clean for Guttman, as Ferguson couldn't improve after hitting a seven.

Guttman has vaulted up the leaderboard in the last couple of hours and continues his momentum.

Vornicu Doubles

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

A player raised to 1,200 before the flop, and Valentin Vornicu, who was next to act, shoved for about 8,000. Action folded back around to the original raiser, and after some consideration, he called to put Vornicu at risk.

Vornicu: {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Opponent: {8-}{8-}

Vornicu was flipping for his stack and needed help from the deck in order to double up. The flop fell {K-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, giving Vornicu Broadway and leaving his opponent drawing thin. The {K-Hearts} turn and {3-Diamonds} river changed nothing, and Vornicu doubled.

Turner Gets a Fold Preflop

Level 5 : 150/300, 50 ante

After a raise from Jon Turner from under the gun, a player a few seats over bumped it up to 1,700. It folded back around to Turner, and he tossed all his big chips forward, having his opponent covered.

His opponent had about 6,000 behind, and some playful banter ensued. "Do you want a call?" he asked.

Turner responded, "Frankly yes. I want to get chips or bust so I can go rebuy."

"This hand has been 0-for-5 all in preflop so far at this table. Will you show if I fold?" his opponent came back with.

"I'll do what he did," Turner said, pointing to another player at the table. "If you show I show."

After some more tanking, the player said "I told myself I was going to fold this. Now I don't know."

Eventually, he announced a fold and flashed {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}. Turner obliged and showed {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, meaning it would have been a flip.

As it is, Turner scooped the pot to get himself off to a nice start, having just recently registered.
