2017 Bracelet
2017 Bracelet

In what may have been a great heads up battle, Joseph "ul_gg" Mitchell, basically got a walk in the park. His opponent sat out the majority of heads up play, only returning to see two hands before Mitchell knocked him out after he made top pair with {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} on a board reading {4-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} {q-Hearts} {6-Spades}.

Mitchell is a well-deserving champion in this inaugural online event, besting a field of 1,780 players. Arriving at the final table, Mitchell was sitting sixth in chips with about 3,500,000.

His first big hand was against Hao "sandongcpa" Sun. Sun had {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} versus Mitchell's {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts}. They got it in pre flop and Mitchell flopped the nut straight when {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{j-Hearts} hit the board. The turn and river bricked off, vaulting Mitchell's stack to just over 10,000,000.

Mitchell then knocked out Michael "TonyPerkis1" Jacoby in sixth place after his pocket nines beat Jacoby's {a-Diamonds}{7-Spades} all in pre flop. This put him at about 16,000,000.

He wasn't done there as he also eliminated Bobby "bcmclawh" McLawhorn in fifth place. It was definitely a cooler hand as both players got it in preflop with premiums. Mitchell had {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} and McLawhorn had {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}. The board never helped McLawhorn improve and Mitchell was taking control of the final table.

By the time Level 42 had started players went for a break and Mitchell had just under 21,000,000. There were three players remaining and he was way out in front.

He knocked out a super short-stacked Michael "ooookillthem" Addamo in third place, setting the stage for a heads up battle.

The battle never really took place as Mitchell won every hand while his opponent sat out.

This is Mitchell's biggest career win and his first WSOP bracelet. His previous best cash was for $22,793 and this one tournament surpasses all of his lifetime live recorded tournament earnings.
