Heeeeeeeello ladies
If you placed a cucumber in a fridge, gave it a Fonzie leather jacket and shipped it off to the North Pole, that cucumber still wouldn't be as cool as Patrik 'who needs buttons when you have a body like mine' Antonius.
Betting 8k into a , my fellow model friend looked immovable as his young opponent gave him the staredown of staredowns, the Finn's poker face unlikely to crack even if you squished a custard pie into his chiseled features and tickled his tootsies with a feather duster.
In the end, his opponent made the wrong decision, calling the 18k and mucking as the former Tennis pro turned over for a rivered top pair.
Online poker wizard Adam Junglen
Adam Junglen raised to 3,300 from UTG and Magnus Persson called from middle position. The flop was . Junglen bet 5,500 and Persson called. The turn was the . Junglen fired out another 14,000 and Persson called. The river was the . Junglen moved all in for his remaining 16,800 and after several minutes in the tank, Persson reached into his big stack and made the call. Junglen showed the for two pair while Persson frowned and mucked.
After the hand, Junglen was up to 76,000. Persson lost the chip lead, but is still stacked at a very healthy 151,000.
Jamie Gold was just transferred from upstairs as this table has been busting itself with growing rapidity. He arrived carrying a tray of red chips, and saying, "I'm playing like a hundred behind." It's true, a secondary rack came soon and the TDs assured everyone, "He has you covered."
Daniel Zink -- 47,400
Tino Lechich -- 87,000
Bob Willis -- 49,000
Mats Gavatin -- 60,500
Tony G -- 40,700
Jamie Gold -- 130k or so
Isabelle Mercier -- 61,000
There had been a brief pause in play while the table waited to become less short-handed, but Tony G had suggested that they "play this table till there's one winner!"
Over at the featured TV table, Daniel Negreanu took down a pot with a suspect hand and said, "If the online kids say me make that play, they'd say, 'Ewwwww! That was like so -EV!' Right, Annette?"
Annette_15 was on the rail, "Well... yeah. It was."
Abishek Khaitan
Abishek Khaitan has just been sent into a spin, the dealer mucking his cards AFTER he'd re-raised a pre-flop raise. Of course, the floor was called, and the ruling from the TD was, "He can have his raise back, but the call must stand. The cards stay in the muck, please protect your hand in future, sir."
To say Abishek Khaitan looked slightly befuddled would be an understatement, but them are the rules.
Tony G: suddenly has a lot of chips
Having been talked at by Tony G for the last hour and a half, Isabelle Mercier finally played a big pot with him, and it didn't end well for her. Tony G had re-raised a 4k preflop bet to 19k, and she thought for a while on the button before re-raising to 38k. That was pretty much all in for Tony G, and their two hands were on their backs faster than you could say, "Feel my power!"
Tony G:
Isabelle Mercier:
"I really want to bust you," admits Isabelle, "I really do - even though I love you dearly..."
Flop:
Turn: "Deuce," suggests Mercier...
River:
"The butcher of Baghdad!" shouts Tony G. "I've been waiting for that all night - and there he is!" Pointing to the sword-wielding King and collecting his new large stack.
The very next hand Tony G raised preflop and Isabelle moved in...
"You're on tilt," he said.
"Super tilt," she agreed. He passed.
It's nearing the end of the day and as usual the party crowd is here getting drunk, watching the poker and asking whether a straight beats a flush. The hectic environment will look great for TV but it's a nightmare for media types like us. With heaving crowds and the sounds of bottles breaking nearby, one worries for their PC and other belongings.
Over at the featured TV table, Gus Hansen wandered over to check out the action. Johnny Chan invited him over to an off limits area (where the TV cameras are and I'm situated with my laptop).
Johnny Chan: "Only tournament leaders are allowed over here. You're still leading, aren't you Gus?"
Gus Hansen: "Yeah, I am, but Patrik Antonius won a pot and is up to 280,000. He might catch me."
Daniel Negreanu: "Just another European donkey."
Hansen: "Well it's good to see at least one Canadian donkey left in the tournament."
J.F.C. in the house
Over at the featured TV table, Johnny Chan has increased his stack to 133,000 after taking down a pot with a King-high flush. He's the table chipleader.
Daniel Negreanu has 48,000 while Pearljammer is up to 55,000. Jakob Paulsen, who held the lead earlier in the day, has slipped to 100,000.
Isabelle Mercier, on her bike
With alarming pace, another huge hand kicked off, with newly-stacked Tony G and Jamie Gold interested preflop, but Isabelle interested in moving in to take the pot there and then. She can't have been delighted when Tony G shoved over the top when it got back round to him, and Jamie Gold passed saying, "If I see a Ten...."
Mercier:
Tony G:
Flop: Tony G: "Look at this!"
Turn:
River: "A boat! The butcher is alive!"
They hugged, and Isabelle shook the hands of all players at the table, but progressed down the hall muttering the expected profanities after having ridden the rollercoaster and come off the tracks at such a late stage.
