Blind Leading the Blind to the Exit

Last year's Main Event runner-up
Last year's Main Event runner-up
Shaun Deeb is second to act and makes a raise up to 1,500 before John Tabatabai moves all in from the small blind for 7,375. The big blind then sits there thinking about what to do with his hand. He asks for a count of Deeb's stack, not seeming to realize John is still involved. This is confirmed when he throws enough chips out to call the initial raise.

The situation is made clear to him and he decides to call John's bet anyway, and he commits the rest of his chips. Deeb, seeing all this commotion, can't decide what to do and openly discusses this. He says, "Let's gamble," and makes the call.

Deeb shows {A-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds}.
Tabatabai shows {A-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}.
Big blind confused player shows {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds}.

All the way to the river we go: {6-Diamonds} {7-Spades} {J-Clubs} {9-Hearts} {J-Hearts}.

A nine on the turn is good enough to seal the pot for Deeb and knock out his two opponents in one swoop.

Laak Runs Good

I run good!
I run good!
A short stack moved in for his remaining 3,550 over the top of Phil Laak's initial raise and Laak made the call, turning up {Q-Spades} {10-Spades} to his opponent's {A-Spades} {K-Spades}. The flop was a devastating {A-Clubs} {10-Clubs} {10-Hearts}, making Laak trips. No help for our short stack on the {7-Diamonds} turn or the {4-Clubs} river and Laak claimed another victim, increasing his stack to just over 37,000.

Jackin' It Up

A double-up for Aurelien Guiglini with {J-Hearts} {J-Clubs} through Alessandro Raspa's {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts}, after it all went in preflop.

The board ran out {9-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {5-Hearts} {3-Clubs} {10-Hearts}, putting the Frenchman above 10,000 and leaving his opponent virtually felted.

Even the Best Make Mistakes

We've all done it. Checked out of turn, bet out of turn, folded when we could have checked. Well, over on Table 1, a flop was just dealt... before the players received their hole cards.

This greatly amused John Phan, seated behind a mountain of chips in that table's nine seat. He turned behind him to his friend, David Williams, who was seated at an adjacent table.

"Hey David! We just saw a flop with no cards!" giggled Phan.

"You moved in, right?" deadpanned Williams.

Jean-Robert Bellande Hears Voices...

Jean-Robert Bellande limps in from mid-position and see a flop of {J-Clubs} {7-?} {6-?} against the two short-stacked blinds. Martin Smith in the small blind immediately bets out 2,000 with around 4,000 behind. Aurelien Guiglini passes in the big blind and Jean-Robert asks for a count.

He then says, "You've bet the exact amount which means it's not worth me chasing my open-ended straight draw." Having folded, he then continues, "Though there's a nagging voice in my head that says, 'You limped with this, you can't fold now you hit a piece of the flop!'"

Trying to Double Up

Allen Cunningham wasted no time in getting his short stack in the middle. In the first hand back from break, he moved all in from early position with {Q-Diamonds} {9-Hearts} and was looked up by the big blind with {J-Diamonds} {9-Spades}.

The board came {K-Clubs} {A-Spades} {10-Clubs} {J-Spades} {Q-Hearts}.

Broadway on the board and this was chop-chop.
