A short-stacked Ken Corkery (button) was all in preflop and looking to dodge two callers in Tim Pennington (big blind) and William Martin (UTG). However, the future looked bleak for the Irishman as his two foes commenced to form a monster of a side pot on a flop. I believe Pennington check-raised Martin all in and was called, but either way, all the chips went in and the cards were on their backs:
Corkery =
Martin =
Pennington =
Turn = , River =
And in one fell swoop, Pennington eliminated two men to give himself a stack of 141,000 and a Cheshire cat grin a country mile long. Meanwhile, Corkery smiled, shrugged his shoulders and left, whilst Martin tapped the table and said, "I knew he didn't have a set, and I thought my ace was live too".
Linda Lee raises to 6,000 from early position before Jesper Hougaard reraised to 16,500 on the button. Joseph El-Shater then moved in from the small blind for a total of 46,100.
Lee thought for a moment before saying, gesturing to Hougaard, "It's you I'm worried about!" before she folded. Hougaard sighed and said, "It's not me you should be worried about." Hougaard asked for a count before saying to El-Shater, "You win every single pot you've play against me..."
This remark seemed to play a part in Hougaard's actions as he folded for the extra 30,000 or so allowing his opponent to scoop the pot.
Yevgeniy Timoshenko decides he can spare a chip or two to race his against all-in Christoph Bommes' . The board emerges and Bommes can breathe more easily.
He was short-stacked, and all in with the best of it, but alas was no match in the face of Michael Bepper's and an ensuing . Carlos Tejardo leaves in 34th.
When it folded round to Sid Harris on the small blind, he moved all-in, for a raise of around 20,000. Big blind Costas Artemi looked at him (Harris, in turn, looked into the middle distance with a serene smile most unusual - and slightly disconcerting, actually - for the poker table). After a long think complete with headshaking, furrowed brow and support of neck, he finally shouted, "Call!" He was happy to see his was dominating the of Harris. No surprises from a ten-high board, and we lose another one - they're dropping like flies in arsenic-laced honey.
Dahe Liu is out after making a push over the top of Yevgeniy Timoshenko's raise but Timoshenko showed far ahead of Liu's and the board never looked like it was going to offer any help, coming . Timoshenko is starting to look invulnerable at the moment.
Jesper Hougaard: Self-confessed Good Runner
Down to the proverbial bowl of rice, Gary Pearce whacked the lot in from the big blind over a Jesper Hougaard under-the-gun raise. Instacall.
Pearce:
Hougaard:
The flop brought ("Diamonds!" exhorted Hougaard, or commented obviously).
Turn:
River: No need, Pearce was already halfway out the door.
