Quad Damage

Aces No Goot
Aces No Goot
Michael Binger just got his shortish stack in against pocket threes - with Binger holding aces. Not one, but both the case threes on the flop ended Binger's day, with his opponent, and his quad threes, showing Binger the door.

Carlos Tejado Doubles Up

Seeing a flop - {4-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {J-Hearts} - out of position against monster-stacked Daniel Nutt, Carlos Tejado checked, found Nutt betting more than he actually had in front of him, and called holding {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds} . He was up against Nutt's {Q-Hearts} {3-Hearts} for the flush draw. That missed, and he's up to 27,000.

Timoshenko Trips Over Channing

Yevgeniy Timoshenko raises from early position and Neil Channing makes the call from the button. On the flop of {A-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {4-Hearts} Timoshenko bets 4,400 and Channing raises to 11,000. After a minute of deliberation Timoshenko moves in and Channing quickly calls.

Timoshenko: {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts}
Channing: {2-Hearts} {2-Spades}

The turn and river are {Q-Spades} and {6-Diamonds} and Timoshenko scoops an huge 70,000 or so pot while Channing is knocked down to around 15,000.

Mackay Not Okay

It's so close to curtains for Tony Mackay now that he's tripping on the drawstring - after this hand against John Dwyer played out.

I caught it from the turn, where the board stood {7-Clubs} {A-Clubs} {3-Clubs}{8-Hearts} . Mackay took the role of the aggressor, confidently announcing all in. He couldn't have been called faster, or registered his displeasure with a resigned, "Oh, shit," faster. He showed {A-Spades} {Q-Diamonds} but top pair was drawing totally dead against Dwyer's nut-tastic {K-Clubs} {J-Clubs} . What could he say but, "Nice hand," as he watched his stack shrink to 2,000.

Corker for Corkery

Ken Corkery could barely watch as his {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} tackled the {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds} of William Martin in a classic, but crucial coin-flip. With his back to the felt, the Irishman remained on edge as the dealer popped out the ensuing board...

{4-Spades}... {6-Clubs}... {J-Spades}... {9-Hearts}...

{Q-Hearts}

"Ooh," gasped the table, the results of which led the Irishman to believe he had been rivered.

"Come back," someone said. "You won."

"Oh," exhaled Corkery relieved. "I thought it was a king".

Corkery -- 41,000
Martin -- 26,000

Goodwin Fails to Hit the Marc

Not a good win for Goodwin
Not a good win for Goodwin
"Standard" grumbled Marc Goodwin as he departed, but if this is "standard" for Mr. Cool, then he sure needs to stop walking under those ladders and encountering those black cats.

All in for around 12,000 on a {5-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} flop, Goodwin's disgruntled expression and motioning of fingers reaching into the back of his throat spoke volumes as not one, but two players pushed all in behind him.

The first chap, and the shortest of the two remaining stacks, was Tony Duffield with {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and the second was Fuad Serhan with an in-splendid-shape {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Sandwiched in the middle was Goodwin with {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}.

With the turn dealing out a {4-Hearts}, and the river a {4-Clubs}, no miracle emerged and two players departed in one fell swoop. "Nice," declared a frustrated Goodwin as a quietly jubilant Serhan scooped up the pot.

Artemi Costas The Lot...

Shahaf Hadaya has hit the rail after feeling the curse of those oh-so-fickle poker gods. He had raised to 2,500 with {A-?} {10-?} and called Costas Artemi's min-reraise to 5,000. Artemi open-shoved on the{10-?} {9-?} {7-?} flop and Hadaya made the call for his stack. It was the correct call as it turned out as Artemi had only {A-?} {K-?} having missed the flop. But it was not to be Hadaya's day as after the {9-?} turn Artemi hit a {K-?} on the river to win the huge pot whilst simultaneously delivering a swift kick to the gonads of his opponent.

Orazio Granvillano Eliminated

The superbly named Orazio Granvillano is now out, and in rather gut-wrenching circumstances too. All in on an A-K-x rainbow flop, Granvillano was in cracking shape with {A-?}{3-?} versus {K-?}{Q-?}. That is until two kings came on the turn and river for quads. The word 'overkill' springs to mind.
