Phil Ivey completed on third street, Jeff Duvall put in a raise and Ivey called. Both players checked fourth street. On fifth, Duvall bet when he hit an ace and Ivey called. Sixth street brought another bet from Duvall and Ivey, with a rough-looking board, considered for several minutes before giving up his hand.

To rub a bit of salt in the wound, Duvall showed {A-?}

in the hole for three pair as he raked in the pot, much to the delight of his railbirds.

Raul Paez Eliminated in 11th Place (£6,188)

Omaha 8:

One man who wishes he'd taken the lie-in is Raul Paez. On the very first hand of the day, and with two players yet to arrive, Paez made it 8,000 from the button with {10-Hearts}

and Howard Lederer made the call in the big blind with {7-Hearts}

Confusion entailed on the {7-Clubs}

flop as the dealer assumed both players had checked. "I didn't check," claimed the Professor. "I looked at my cards, but I didn't check."

Without too much debate, the dealer brought play back and Lederer led for 4,000. Paez made the call.

On the {4-Clubs}

turn, Lederer asked how much his Paez had left (5,500 was the reply) and duly put his man all in. Paez made the inevitable call.

Although the {J-Diamonds}

river caused yet more confusion as both players initially believed it was a chop chop, Lederer spotted he had a low and ultimately scooped the pot.

As expected, last night's Day 2 action ran late into the morning hours and play was called with 11 players still alive in the tournament. Because of the late finish, the players were instructed to return at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon rather than 2:00, perhaps to give them an extra half hour of sleep.

Just past 4:00 a.m. this morning, Phil Hellmuth became our 12th place finisher after executing a very Matusow-like blow-up. Sherkhan Farnood was the man who eventually did him in, winning a race with pocket threes against Hellmuth's ace-king. Fittingly, Farnood was the guy Hellmuth referred to as, "The worst player I've ever seen in my life," earlier that day.

Howard Lederer owns the top spot on the leaderboard with 208,500 in chips followed not so closely behind by Farnood, who will bring 141,500 to the table when we restart later today.
