Ivey Doubles Through Lederer

Stud 8:

As the table short-stack, Phil Ivey opted to make his move on the first hand back after the break, all the chips going in on 5th street with only Howard Lederer standing in the way.

Ivey = {6-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{K-Spades} with {6-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{A-Clubs}
Lederer = {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} with {6-Spades}{3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}

Ivey's two pair was more than enough against Lederer's paltry pair of threes, and he took the pot to double through to 60,000.

Shere Khan Roars to Victory

Stud 8:

Phil Ivey has been left with under 30,000 going into the break after locking horns with Sherkhan Farnood.

Farnood = {2-Hearts}{K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}
Ivey = {8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

Farnood check-called every street before check-raising the river. Ivey made the call, but could only shake his head in disbelief as Farnood showed {A-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{5-Spades} for the full house.

Spencer Lawrence Eliminated in 8th Place (£ 8,938)

Spencer Lawrence - 8th Place
Spencer Lawrence - 8th Place
Stud 8:

Lawrence (X) (X) {5-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {9-Spades} {9-Clubs} (X)

Duval (X) (X) {10-Clubs} {10-Spades} {8-Spades} {9-Diamonds} (X)

Lederer (X) (X) {5-Spades} {A-Spades} {J-Spades} {4-Diamonds} (X)

Ivey (X) (X) {2-Clubs} {K-Hearts}

A series of bets and raises ended up putting Spencer Lawrence all in on third street while Jeff Duval, Howard Lederer, and Phil Ivey continued betting on the side.

Duval paired tens on fourth street and led out, Ivey folded and Lederer called. Duval led again on fifth street and Lederer called. Sixth street brought checks from both players and it was the same story on seventh street.

Lawrence's nines and treys were no match for Duval's kings and tens for the high, and neither player made a low. Lederer showed {A-Hearts} {2-Spades} {Q-Clubs} for a lone pair of aces, no low, and Duval scooped the pot, eliminating Lawrence.

A published writer and poet in addition to his thriving poker career (including two final tables at this summer's WSOP-Las Vegas), Lawrence will take home £8,938 for his finish here in London.

Updated Chip Counts

Howard Lederer 351,000
Ivo Donev 195,000
Sherkhan Farnood 141,000
Jeff Duvall 120,000
Phil Ivey 107,000
Jeff Lisandro 82,500
Mark Gregorich 66,500
Spencer Lawrence 20,500

Small Pot for Lisandro

Stud:

Phil Ivey completed with the {8-Hearts} showing, Lisandro made the call with the {4-Diamonds}. Phil bet a {3-Spades} on 4th street, Lisandro called with the {J-Hearts}. Lisandro then made a pair with the {J-Clubs}, and Ivey check-folded his {Q-Hearts}.

Ivey now on 90,000.

Another Blow to Lawrence

Stud:

Lawrence (X) (X) {K-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {3-Spades}

Duvall (X) (X) {10-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs}

Jeff Duvall completed on third street and Spencer Lawrence made the call. On fourth Lawrence led out with the high board, Duvall raised and Lawrence called. Duvall paired eights on fifth and bet out, inducing a fold from Lawrence, who is left on only 20,500 chips.
