Ace On The River

Hold'em:

Barry Greenstein is out. His short stack was an early casualty in today's proceedings after John Phan's {A-?} {9-?} caught the nine on the flop against Greenstein's {A-?} {10-?}. The {A-?} on the river sealing Greenstein's doom.

Williams Starts as he Means to Go On

Hold'em:

A refreshed David Williams has started off aggressively (and successfully), raising the very first hand of the day and stealing an ever-so-slightly late Phil Ivey's unguarded big blind. Then he got involved in a pot with Markus Golser, who called another of his preflop raises.

Golser check-raised the {9-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} flop, and Williams called. The turn brought the {8-Spades} and a bet out (1,200) from Golser - also called. They both checked the {6-Diamonds} river, where Williams' {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds} was found to have gotten there in the end, to the (unexpressed) frustration of Golser, who'd flopped a set with {9-Spades} {9-Hearts} . Ah, limit poker, good sometimes for cultivating sang-froid.

Double Through For Rasmussen

Skirting the edges of the felt, Dan Rasmussen just got it all in on the river, after betting every street, against Jan Lundberg with the {A-Spades} {9-Clubs} . The board read {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {2-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {K-Hearts} and whatever Lundberg had it wasn't good enough to eliminate the young player, who hangs on with 11,000.

Bellande Manages A Scoop

Omaha 8:

On a {10-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {K-Diamonds}, Jeff Duvall bets 1,200 and Jean-Robert Bellande raises to 2,400. Yuval Bronshtein passes and Duvall makes the call. Before the {K-Clubs} river is dealt, Bellande bets 1,200 in the dark. Duvall passes his huge drawing hand of {A-Clubs} {2-Spades} {J-Spades} {Q-Clubs} while Bellande shows {A-Diamonds} {A-Hearts} {2-?} {J-?} for the pot.
