It's a Cruel Game

All in on a {10-Clubs} {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} flop, it looked like a massive cold deck tragedy for Chris Elliot -- until the turn and river made him a full house, doubling him up to around 60,000 and leaving his opponent with mere shrapnel.

Elliot: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Spades}
Opponent: {K-Spades} {J-Diamonds}

Board: {10-Clubs} {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {2-Spades}

Bust-a-Rama, Featuring Obrestad, Esfandiari, and Bjorin

Her reign is over
Her reign is over
Annette Obrestad will not be this year's WSOPE queen, as her {K-?} {K-?} went up against Marco Traniello's {A-?} {Q-?}, which hit.

Just a few moments later, there was further action on the feature table as Antonio Esfandiari ran into some pocket aces. His {K-?} {J-?} hit a king on the turn, and shortly after all the chips went in, Esfandiari went out.

On one of the non-feature tables, a woefully short-stacked Chris Bjorin also made a quiet exit.

Assorted Chip Counts

Tom Dwan: 17,500
Scotty Nguyen: 10,000 (claims "110,000, baby!")
Juha Helppi: 45,000
Jamie "The Chronic" Rosen: currently chip leader on 140,000
Doyle Brunson: 31,000
James Keys: 13,550

Durrr... I Fold

Tom Dwan took down a monster pot, which ended with Dwan moving all in on the river of the {7-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {K-Spades} {8-Hearts} {10-Clubs} board and Lauri Keinonen folding. Neither player showed their hand to the table, but Dwan showed his cards to the ESPN show-us-your-cards machine, so there's something to look forward to on the ESPN highlights, Dwan fans...

Official Dinner Time Leaders

Direct from our WSOPE friends, the leaders as they stood at the dinner break:

Jamie Rosen: 135,000
Daniel Negreanu: 130,000
Sargon Ruya: 100,000
Michael Lorean: 100,000
David Benefield: 90,000
Roland de Wolfe: 90,000
Johnny Lodden: 75,000
David "Devilfish" Ulliott: 70,000
Yuval Bronshtein: 70,000

The Luck of the Devil

David "Devilfish" Ulliott raised under the gun, only for Peter Turmezey to shove from the button for around 12,000 total. "All in, eh?" said Devilfish, rather obviously. After some thought, he called.

Turmezey: {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}
Devilfish: {A-Clubs} {Q-Spades}

Board: {4-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds} {8-Spades} {8-Clubs}

In a lucky escape, Devilfish got to take his chips back, while unfortunate Turmezey missed out on a much-needed double-up.

Gavin Smith Doubles Through Bengt Sonnert

I heart queen-ten
I heart queen-ten
A short-stacked Gavin Smith got it all in preflop with {Q-Diamonds} {10-Spades} and Bengt Sonnert gladly made the call holding {K-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}.

The flop was {10-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {7-Clubs}, Sonnert's kings still safe, but the {Q-Hearts} spiked on the turn making Smith two pair. The river was the {6-Clubs} and Smith doubled up to 11,000.

"Now you know you're destined to win this tournament," joked his tablemate Yuval Bronshtein.

"No. Now I know I'm destined to last until 1:15!" he laughed with a look at his watch.
