Tournament Tidbits

There are currently 62 players remaining, which puts the average chip stack at 19,100.

Notable recent eliminations include Robert Williamson III, John O'Shea and Jeff Madsen.

A massive crowd has developed around the final table of Event 1, where J.P. Kelly and Fabien Dunlop are currently heads-up for the bracelet.

Cavanagh Eliminated

Aces is a tricky hand in Omaha, as found out by Welshman Martyn Cavanagh. He went for an under the gun limp when he peeked down at the bullets, but with no preflop raise, Marc Goodwin was allowed to hit trips on a {4-?}{4-?}{?x} to send Cavanagh home.

Legend Down

(Hold'em)

His majesty Lord Brunson is sadly out of today's tournament, and in rather unruly fashion too. All in with pocket queens, he was unable to fend off pocket fours which spiked a set on the river.

Outraged by the bad beat, Doyle rose from his seat, banged his fist on the table, and cursed his opponent relentlessly. OK, he was a good sport and left quietly, although my version is a lot more exciting.

In No Mah'mood' to Play Omaha

Ayaz Mahmood has just been eliminated from the tournament by Robert Williamson III.

(Omaha)

The two got it all in on a board showing {J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Mahmood had a made straight, with the {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Williamson revealed top two pair and a gazillion draws, tabling {A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}.

It only took one more card to settle things. 4th Street delivered the {J-Spades}, giving R-Dub jacks full of nines, leaving Mahmood drawing dead.

Williamson stacked up 19,000 in chips after the hand.

Pocket Rockets Hold

(Omaha)

On a {J-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{K-Spades}{8-Hearts} board, Willie Tann called a bet from Richard Kellett and we saw a {4-Spades} river. After a brief pause, Kellett reached down and threw out 2,500. Tann didn't look happy, but he wasn't eager to fold either, and after weighing up his options and glancing dismissively at his stack, he found the call.

Kellett was first to show, flipping {7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{8-Spades} and bisecting his hand appropiately. But Tann had {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{9-Hearts}, meaning for the second time today, his pocket rockets held up.

Tann jumps to 10,000.
