One for the Ladies

Good news, ladies! Everyone's favourite hunk o' poker-playing Finn is here!

That's right, Mr. Patrik Antonius has taken his seat at one of the upstairs feature tables, sharing with a fearsome and varied line-up that includes Beth Shak, Nikolay Evdakov, Peter Gould, Chris Bjorin, Mike Matusow and Joe Beevers.

Good Call from Evdakov

With maybe 14,000 in the pot already, Chris Bjorin and Nikolay Evdakov both checked the turn of an {A-Spades} {3-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} board. Onwards.

They saw a {7-Clubs} river, and Bjorin now moved all in to cover Evdakov. A long pause...

...And a call.

Bjorin: {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts}
Evdakov: {K-Spades} {Q-Spades}

To a cacophony of various, "Holy s***"s and "Wow"s from the rest of the table, they chopped it up.

Ivey All Over the Place

We haven't managed to catch many big hands involving him, but every time we pass Phil Ivey's table his stack seems to have veered wildly in one direction or the other. Most recent example -- Ivey had 29,000 last we checked, and now he's down to 18,000.

Grace-ious Richard

With one caller before him, Richard Grace limped on the button for 200, the small blind made up and the big blind checked.

On the {A-?}{Q-?}{8-?} flop, Grace bet 800, the blinds folded, but the hijack called.

A {10-?} turn triggered another bet from Grace, this time 2,500. The hijack made it 5,000, Grace raised to 13,000 and the hijack called.

Grace then put his opponent all in for 15,000 on the {8-?} river - call - and showed {K-?}{J-?}. His opponent mucked allowing Grace to construct a newly acquired stack of 75,000.

Mercier Moves On Up

Jason Mercier, who won his first bracelet in Vegas this summer to add to the variety of other high-profile titles he's won during his short career, has just propelled himself way up the leader board after knocking out another player.

The two of them saw a {K-?} {4-?} {Q-?} flop and the action went as follows:

Soon-to-be-busted gentleman: check
Mercier: bet 2,900
S.T.B.B gent: raise to 7,675
Mercier: reraise to 16,900
S.T.B.B.G: all in
Mercier: call

And the cards:

S.T.B.B.G: {K-?} {10-?}
Mercier: pocket fours for a set

Turn: {6-?}
River: {5-?}

Mercier is up to 70,000, although he is not quite the, "New chip leader," that tablemate Viffer is claiming he is.

Set on the River

The action folded around to Todd Brunson on the small blind who made it 800 to go. Chad Brown made the call in the big blind. On the {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds} flop, Brunson led for 1,000, checked the blank turn, before check-calling 3,000 on the {9-Clubs} river. Much to Brunson's frustration - he shrugged and raised his palm - Brown had rivered a set with {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}. Brunson showed {Q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}.

Brunson -- 50,000
Brown -- 65,000

Turn of the Screw

An excellent turn for Steven Begleiter on a {5-Spades} {9-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {10-Spades} board. A raising war resulted in his opponent all in, and when the cards were flipped it transpired that the unfortunate opponent was drawing dead.

Mr. Opponent: {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}
Begleiter: {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}

River, for the sake of completeness: {6-Hearts}

Begleiter is up to a very healthy 76,000.
