Tom Dwan Exits Stage Left

Tom Dwan has just been eliminated by Marcello Marigliano who earlier professed "he was a little bit crazy!"
To be fair to Marigliano there was nothing crazy about the hand that eliminated the young superstar.

Dwan raised to 400 in the cut-off and the button and big blind (Marigliano) both called. The flop was {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {3-Spades} and Marigliano checked, Dwan bet 950, the button folded and Marigliano called. The next card to hit the deck was the {5-Hearts} and Marigliano checked to Dwan again. Dwan fired his double barrel of 2,300 but Marigliano responded by check-raising to 7,000. Dwan, who hadn't taken his eyes off Marigliano throughout the entire hand, moved all-in and after a quick peek of his cards Marigliano made the call.

Ben Lamb booked a last minute flight to be able to play in this tournament but he hasn't gotten great value out of his money. The November Nine finalist and most likely WSOP Player of the Year just ran his open ended straight, back door flush and two pair into a set and a flush draw.

After a little dispute with the dealer about the raise Lamb put out, he cut the chips across the betting line something that's not allowed in most European casinos, he made it 400 from the under the gun position. After getting multiple callers the flopped showed {J-Clubs} {8-Hearts} {K-Clubs} and Lamb bet 1,000. Kevin Iacofano decided to raise to 3,000 and when the action came back to Lamb he put in the remainder of his 11,075 chips. The EPT London finalist snap-called creating a big pot and an important showdown for both players.

Clemencon Has Metaal

Tristan Clemencon raised to 350 in early position and the cut-off called, as did Govert Metaal in the big blind. The flop was {10-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} and When checked to, Clemencon bet 600 and only Metaal decided to see a turn. The turn was the {5-Clubs} and a 1,800 took the pot down for Clemencon.

Mixed game specialist Alexander Kostritsyn raised to 800 in the cut-off and Sam Trickett three-bet on the button making it 2,900. Kostritsyn called and the two of them shared a flop.

Daniel Negreanu Banishes Patrik Antonius

We have just seen Patrik Antonius get to his feet so we bolted over to his table. Daniel Negreanu was hauling in the Finns chips and the word around the table was that Ramzi Jelassi had opened with a raise to 500, Daniel Negreanu had three-bet to 1,800 and Patrik Antonius had moved all-in. Jelassi folded and Negreanu made the call.

Chartier Takes Down The Biggest One

We haven't seen a pot today like the one Sam Chartier just won. Stephane Albertini raised under the gun to 500 to start off the action. Chartier was in the under-the-gun-plus-one position and three-bet to 1,400. The action got folded to Dan Kelly who four-bet to 5,000, after which it got folded back to Albertini. Both Albertini and Chartier called giving us a huge pot preflop.

The flop brought out {J-Clubs} {6-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} on which Albertini went all in straight away. Chartier came over the top and Kelly put in his chips as well. A total of 12 cards got turned over and we managed to get all of them down.

Chartier had the bottom wrap and a nut flush draw against Kelly who had aces and the high end of an open-ended straight draw. Albertini had the same straight draw as Kelly but also top pair, a back door flush draw and a gutshot to a higher straight. A whole lot of things to look out for and the {Q-Diamonds} on the turn gave Albertini a flush draw as well.

Kelly was rooting for a blank so his aces could hold while the other two players needed help. Help came for Chartier who hit his straight with the {3-Spades} on the river giving him this massive pot with a six-high straight.

Kelly was left behind with 9,000 chips and we said goodbye to Albertini who got knocked out. Chartier has the chip lead for now but with crazy action happening all over the place we expect some other players to rise pretty quickly.

Merivirta Doubles Through Shorr

Two hands after Sam Chartier took over the chip lead it was Shannon Shorr who raised it up to 450. Action got folded to Jyri Merivirta who called in late position, Sam Chartier called from the big blind giving us three-way action on the flop.

The flop was {4-Clubs} {4-Hearts} {5-Hearts} and Shorr continuation bet 800. Merivirta and Chartier called bringing us to the turn, the {J-Diamonds} . Chartier and Shorr checked to Merivirta who bet pot, which was 3,850. Chartier folded and Shorr called. The river was the {A-Hearts} and Shorr checkd again. Merivirta tanked for well over a minute before shoving all-in for his remaining 6,300. Shorr didn't look happy but called and mucked his cards when Merivirta turned over {J-Spades} {J-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} .
