A Quickie

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

We are going to have a late night tonight folks, therefore Jack Effel has reduced the 20-minute break to 10-minutes.

Decision For Blain

Dermot Blain raised to 14,000 in early position and Megrous Kidhir three-bet on the button making it 28,000 to play. The flop was {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts} {6-Clubs} and Blain check-called a 24,000 Kidhir bet. The turn was the {Q-Clubs} and both players checked before we saw the {4-Clubs} on the river. Blain checked once more but Kidhir moved all-in forcing Blain to fold.

Mattern Takes His Stand

Ricardo Tavares raised to 15,000 to open the pot, and Arnaud Mattern flatted in position. Around the table, Brian Roberts squeezed in a reraise to 46,000, and that folded Tavares without incident. Mattern shoved for 180,000, though, and Roberts tanked for a bit before making the call. The Frenchman was well ahead.

Showdown
Mattern: {A-Hearts} {10-Clubs}
Roberts: {10-Hearts} {10-Diamonds}

The board ran out safe for Matten, coming {8-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {6-Hearts} {4-Diamonds} {7-Spades}. Up and down he goes, and this latest trend takes Mattern back up around 400,000.

Karr Shoves it In

We picked up the action on a {K-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {3-Spades} flop. Patrik Antonius checked, and McLean Karr (who we infer was the preflop raiser) did as well, and Artem Litvinov bet 25,000 from the button. Antonius called, but Karr check-raised all in for 87,000 total. Litvinov folded instantly.

Antonius, though, would take at least five minutes to make his play. He cut out the bet and stared at Karr, rattling the chips in his hand shaking his head. "Wow, it's so close," he said finally, still clanking the calling chips together in his hand. A long while later, he folded showing the {K-Hearts}, and Karr is off the hook for now.

Waxman Busts Maisto in Three-Way Pot with King-Queen High

Pavel Ivan raised to 13,000 from middle position and Matt Waxman flat-called from the hijack seat. In the cutoff seat was Giacomo Maisto and he moved all in for 48,000. Play folded back to Ivan and he called. Waxman also called.

The board ran out ace-high with four other cards lower than an eight and no pair on board while Ivan and Waxman checked it down. Waxman showded {K-}{Q-} and neither Ivan or Maisto could beat it. Waxman won the hand with his king-queen high and sent Maisto to the rail.

Lehavot Abusing

Acion folded to Rifat Palevic in the cutoff seat and he raised to 13,000. Amir Lehavot three-bet to 35,000 from the button. Play folded back to Palevic and he called to see the flop come down {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. After Palevic checked, Lehavot bet 44,000. Palevic quickly folded and Lehavot won the pot.

Michael Drummond Wounds Fox

Michael Drummond has put himself in a very good position in this tournament after this hand against Elio Fox.

Elio Fox raised from early position and Michael Drummond called in the big blind. The flop was {10-Diamonds} {3-Hearts} {4-Spades} and Drummond check-called a 17,000 Fox bet. The turn was the {4-Diamonds} and Drummond check-raised to 112,000, after Fox had bet 38,000, and Fox called. The river was the {K-Diamonds} and Drummond bet 142,000 and Fox called. Drummond tabled {A-Diamonds} {5-Diamonds} for the nuts and Fox folded his hand.
