Baker Wins One and Loses One

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

From the cutoff seat, David "ODB" baker raised to 850. Marcello Marigliano called on the button and the flop came down {K-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. Baker bet 1,000 and Marigliano called.

The turn was he {9-Clubs} and Baker stayed on the gas with a bet of 2,000. Marigliano folded and Baker won the pot.

A couple hands later, John Tabatabai raised from the cutoff seat to 800 and Baker called from the big blind to see a flop of {J-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. Baker checked, and Tabatabai fired 800. Baker made the call.

After the dealer added the {5-Clubs} on the turn, Baker check-folded to a bigger bet of 1,700 from Tabatabai.

Tabatabai Gets Baker

Picking up the action on the final board of {A-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{K-Spades} with several thousand chips already in the middle, John Tabatabai checked to David "ODB" Baker. Baker fired a bet of 3,000, and Tabatabai came back at him with a reraise to 8,200. Baker tanked, then called.

Tabatabai tabled the {J-Spades}{6-Spades} for a pair of sixes on the flop that backed into a straight. Baker mucked his hand and dropped back to 62,000 in chips. Tabatabai climbed to nearly 40,000.

Ivey Eliminated

Phil Ivey no more
Phil Ivey no more

Phil Ivey check-raised all in for 5,050 on the {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} flop against Christophe Julien's bet of 1,200. Julien got a count of Ivey's stack, then tossed in the call with the {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts}. Ivey held a dominated {A-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}.

The turn was the {K-Spades}, and as soon as Ivey saw that hit the felt, he popped out of his chair and headed for the door, knowing he was drawing dead. The river completed the board with the {A-Hearts} and that was the end of Ivey's tournament.
