Triple Up for Akenhead

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Dominik Matejka
Dominik Matejka

James Akenhead got his last 24,100 in from early position and Dominik Matejka from one seat over moved all in over the top. Oleksandr Shcherbak looked up both short stacks out of the big blind.

James Akenhead: {A-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Dominik Matejka: {J-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Oleksandr Shcherbak: {A-Hearts}{K-Clubs}

"Spades?" Akenhead asked in table chat before the flop of {A-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} caused several "ohhhs" at the table. Neither the {2-Diamonds} turn nor the {8-Clubs} river changed anything and Akenhead tripled up, while Matejka lost the remainder of his stack in the side pot against Shcherbak. "It's all about the patience in this game," Akenhead grinned while raking in the pot.

Shcherbak replied "I was happy about that ace on the flop until I saw the nines."
