WSOP Europe €2,200 Pot-Limit Omaha Final Table is Set; Allen Kessler Seeks First Bracelet

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Allen Kessler

Day 2 of Event #6: €2,200 Pot-Limit Omaha at the 2017 World Series of Poker Europe ended with an official final table of eight, and the most recognizable player left at the King's Casino in Rozvadov is Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler.

The ever-present grinder, who has racked up over $1 million in WSOP cashes, along with three rings and $500,000 in cashes on the WSOP Circuit, reached his seventh WSOP final table. Remarkably, his seven final tables have come in seven different disciplines, speaking to the well-rounded nature of Kessler's game.

Despite the success he has experienced though, Kessler has yet to capture his first bracelet. He's certainly got plenty of work ahead of him if this is to be the one, as he bagged 336,000 to land in seventh out of the eight remaining runners. That gives him just over 20 big blinds heading to Day 3 as things moved to Level 20 (8,000/16,000) right before the last two eliminations left the official final table set.

At the top of the counts are a couple of players virtually tied with over 100 big blinds. Krasimir Yankov has the heftiest stack with 1,680,000, giving him a slight lead over start-of-day leader Liran Twito, who has 1,654,000.

The rest of the field: Pim van Holsteyn (1,300,000), Georgios Koliofotis (1,011,000), former pro soccer player Sergej Barbarez (721,000), Lukas Zaskodny (653,000) and Willm Engelke (275,000).

The money bubble burst early in the day with just two players set to miss cashing out of the 31 who began with chips. Jonathan Abdellatif and Vitezslav Pesta were the unlucky pair. After their respective demises, Chris Ferguson, Mike Leah, John Racener and Erik Cajelais were among the players cashing.

Ferguson and Racener gained valuable points in what looks like a three-horse race for WSOP Player of the Year honors, along with Ryan Hughes. Ferguson currently leads the board.

Final table play kicks off at 2 p.m. on Monday and will be live streamed here from King's Casino, with the eventual winner banking €93,677.

Dario Alioto bet 20,000 in the small blind on a board of {k-Spades}{j-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{j-Spades} and big blind Liran Twito called. Alioto bet 44,000 on the {4-Spades} river and Twito shoved. Alioto had about 70,000 and back and he said something to Twito before calling with a sigh.

Twito showed {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} for quads. Alioto mucked {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} face-up, the tournament is down to an official final table, meaning play has finished for the day.

Angelo Benedetto

Krasimir Yankov has been building and building over the last level or so. He just knocked out Angelo Bendetto in a big three-way pot.

Yankov made it 40,000 preflop and Andriy Lyubovetskiy called in position. Then Angelo Benedetto raised to 126,000. Yankov called as did Lyubovetskiy.

The flop came all diamonds {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Benedetto went all in for 215,000. Yankov called and Lyubovetskiy quickly folded.

Yankov was in the lead with {a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} for two pair against the {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}{k-Spades}{3-Spades} of Benedetto.

The turn was the {5-Hearts} and the river was the {9-Hearts} and Yankov won the hand with a full house.

Alexandre Viard

Krasimir Yankov opened for 37,000 under the gun. Alexandre Viard called on the button and Angelo Benedetto made it three to the {3-Spades}{4-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop. Benedetto checked, Yankov bet 88,000 and Viard potted. Benedetto mucked and Yankov put Viard at risk for about 400,000 total.

Yankov: {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Clubs}
Viard: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}

The {k-Spades} turn gave Yankov a flush draw to go with his top wrap, and the {8-Spades} river got him there, much to the chagrin of Viard, who flicked in his last chip and briskly walked away from the table.

Mustafa Jukovic limped in from middle position and Sumit Sapra shoved for about 25,000 on the button. Alexandre Viard reshipped to put Jukovic all in and he called off with his short stack.

Sapra: {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}

Erik Cajelais Eliminated in 18th Place (€3,594)

Erik Cajelais
Erik Cajelais

Erik Cajelais potted from the big blind for 75,000 on a {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} flop. Lukas Zaskodny put him all in for his last 25,000 or so after some thought.

Cajelais: {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Zaskodny: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Both had flush draws, with Cajelais' nut draw and open-ender meaning he had more outs to make his hand against a lower flush and a gutter. However, he needed to improve as Zaskodny had him high-carded for the moment. The {j-Hearts} turn closed off a few outs, and the {q-Spades} river did nothing for Cajelais.

Vahid Amirzahiri
Vahid Amirzahiri

Vahid Amirzahiri was eliminated by Krasimir Yankov. The final hand wasn't too eventful when Yankov got the last of Amirzahiri's remaining chips holding {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Spades} against Amirzahiri's hand which had no card higher than an eight.

Yankov flopped a set, but Amirzahiri was still drawing to a few outs with a gutshot wheel draw that missed on the river. He was eliminated.

Yankov won a couple hands from Amirzahiri earlier in the day, and it continued to get worse for him until he finally busted at the hands of Yankov.
