Hands #57-59: Hofmann Takes the Lead

Level 27 : 30,000/60,000, 10,000 ante

Hand #57: Abdelhakim Zoufri raised to 140,000 from the cutoff and Thomas Hofmann called in the big blind. The duo checked down the board of {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{6-Spades} entirely and Hofmann announced an ace before rolling over {A-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for trips aces.

Hand #58: Johannes Toebbe made it 120,000 to go from the button and Hofmann three-bet out of the small blind to 325,000, Toebbe called. The flop came {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}{10-Spades} and Hofmann continued for 325,000, Toebbe called. The {K-Hearts} turn paired the board and both players checked before Hofmann also checked the {9-Spades} on the river.

Toebbe bet 625,000 and Hofmann immediately talked through possible hands such as king-queen, king-jack and queen-jack. The Swiss eventually called and Toebbe showed {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}, which Hofmann had beat with {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}. "I was close to fold this time," Hofmann added and jumped into a comfortable lead.

Hand #59: Albert Hoekendijk raised out of the small blind and Zoufri called in the big blind. Both Dutchmen checked down the board {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{9-Hearts} and Hoekendijk won the pot with {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}.
