Soyza Cracks Lon's Kings to Double

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Michael Soyza experienced somewhat of a roller coaster and went from joint chip-leader to below average. Just now, Ondrej Lon and another player limped in. Soyza jammed for 82,000 in the small blind and Lon called in the cutoff, the button folded.

Michael Soyza: {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Ondrej Lon: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

Soyza was in need of help and got just that on the {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} flop. The {4-Spades} turn and {9-Clubs} river brought no threat anymore for the Malaysian and he remained in contention.

The same table no longer features Matous Houzvicek. "Aces versus jacks," he sighed on the rail when he caught the asking eye of the live reporter.

Van Tiep Nguyen was also all in and at risk. He turned a straight with {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} against the {8-Spades}{4-Spades} of fellow countryman Rene Crha and both traded their stack sizes.

Three Flush Draws Collide

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante
Ondrej Lon
Ondrej Lon

On the three-way flop of {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Stefan Haberl was all in and at risk out of the big blind and Reinhold Dona from one seat over got his stack of more than 120,000 into the middle as well. But that was not all yet, as Ondrej Lon had both easily covered and called Dona's shove as well.

Stefan Haberl: {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Reinhold Dona: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Ondrej Lon: {K-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

Several players from the other tables gathered to see the showdown and Lon struck gold on the {K-Spades} turn to improve. A blank {10-Clubs} river secured the double knockout and Dona was devasted.

"No no no, not like this," he said in table chat.

Just like that, the field was reduced to the last 29 hopefuls and Lon jumped into a commanding lead close to the money bubble.

Kubis Takes From Yankov

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

In a three-bet pot in a battle late position against cutoff, Krasimir Yankov checked the {10-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop and Marian Kubis checked back. On the {8-Spades} turn, Yankov bet 30,000 and Kubis just called to see the {J-Clubs} on the river.

Both players checked and Yankov showed {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. Kubis won the pot with {10-Clubs}{10-Hearts} but ended up shaking his head given the unfortunate run out.

One Greek Busts; Another Doubles

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

The fate of two Greek awaited as Konstantinos Misailidis and Georgios Orestidis ended up all in and at risk in quick succession.

At the very end of the previous level, Misailidis three-bet jammed for around 20 big blinds out of the small blind and Sebastian Kos snap-called as initial raiser on the button.

Konstantinis Misailidis: {Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Sebastian Kos: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

The board came {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} and Kos dodged the back door straight draw to eliminate Misailidis.

As soon as the blinds had gone up, Orestidis was all in for 47,500 with the {A-Spades}{K-Spades} against Van Tiep Nguyen with {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. Orestidis improved to the nut straight on the turn of a board {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}{Q-Spades}{7-Diamonds}to remain in contention.

Tomecki Doubles; Sefertzis Busts Soyza

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Michael Soyza
Michael Soyza

On the three-way flop of {7-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Lukas Tomecki bet 15,000 and Krasimir Yankov called. Georgios Sefertzis moved all in and Tomecki called for 114,500, Yankov quickly folded.

"I have aces," Tomecki announced and Sefertzis asked "black ones?" before tabling his {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} for the second nut flush draw. Tomecki however had him crushed with {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds} and the Greek instantly started chatting in his native language including the word "malaka." The very word can be used among friends ... or in a slightly different meaning. Let's leave it at that.

Sefertzis found no miracle on the {6-Spades} turn and {7-Clubs} river, and he had to forfeit a decent portion of his stack.

Soon after, he open-shoved out of the small blind and Michael Soyza called in the big blind with the inferior stack of around 110,000.

Michael Soyza: {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Georgios Sefertzis: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}

The {8-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Clubs} flop gave the Greek the straight and he turned an unbeatable flush with the {K-Spades}, which made the {6-Clubs} river a formality.

Two tables were still playing, though, and one of them included an all in showdown. Sebastian Kos had jammed with {10-Clubs}{7-Clubs} into the {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} of short stack Timo Vogt and the {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{5-Hearts} board ensured a split pot.

Right after, the fourth remaining table broke and the money bubble will now be played with three nine-handed tables.

Set for Kamphues

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Ondrej Lon raised to 15,000 first to act and Lars Kamphues defended the big blind to see a flop of {K-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{2-Clubs}, which both players checked. Kamphues bet he {3-Clubs} turn for 14,000 and Lon called. The {6-Hearts} on the river was checked through and Kamphues rolled over {2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for bottom set.

Lon virtually patted himself on the back and mucked.
