Nines Are Good for Merzhvinskii

Level 7 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

There was a pot of around 17,000 in the middle and the flop was reading {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Clubs} when Manig Loeser checked from middle position. Aleksandr Merzhvinskii bet 5,500 from the cutoff and Loeser check-called.

The dealer burned and turned the {a-Spades} that was checked through to the {2-Hearts} river. Both players checked again. Loeser tabled {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} for eights and threes but that wasn't good enough as Merzhvinskii turned over {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} to win the pot with nines and eights.
