Barbarez Bets Out Alioto

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

The {k-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} flop brought a bet worth 6,500 by Sergej Barbarez in a late position and he was called only by Dario Alioto on the button. Another 15,500 followed on the {4-Clubs} turn and Barbarez then bet the {6-Clubs} river for just 11,000.

This time, no call by Alioto followed and the former professional football striker raked in the pot without showdown.

Karatas Gets Value From Pettersen

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

On the tail end of a hand between Sarharib Karatas and Filip Pettersen, the former bet the {q-Clubs}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{2-Spades} river for 12,000. Pettersen called but mucked an ace-queen club combo when Karatas tabled the {k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for top set.

Karatas' stack only trails Simeon Tsonev on the same table.

No Fortune Yet for Magalashvili

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

"I already had a big stack and then I got it in preflop for 75k with 8765, not sure what happened to me," Michael Magalashvili said. He then re-entered but already lost more than half of the stack.

He just now opened to 2,000 to earn one caller and bet the {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop to claim the pot.

One table over, Miha Pirsic and Jose Obadia have thrived on their respective re-entries and are among the bigger stacks.

Dutchman Nicolaas Baars flopped top set on the {k-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop but it went down in flames as his {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{x-}{x-} were mucked already. Ioannis Papadopoulos earned the knockout with the {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} for the nut flush on the same table as chip leader Georgios Tsouloftas.

Schakeri Shakes Zech

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

On a board of {a-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{j-Hearts}, Schayan Schakeri doubled through Quirin Zech when his {6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} made quads. With a dry smile on the face, Zech wished his opponent a happy birthday as he forked over 30,000 on the tail end while his {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} were briefly exposed.

Schakeri was not only busy with stacking the chips, he also opened a snack and munched on it while offering some to table neighbour Marek Blasko. Zech was down to two blinds after the hand and busted.
