Caballo Pena Squeezes and Takes the Pot

Level 3 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Francisco Caballo Pena
Francisco Caballo Pena

Vasileios Tsaknis opened to 700 from the cutoff, and he was called by Patrick Baranyai on the button, and by Massimiliano Zanasi in the small blind.

But Francisco Caballo Pena decided to squeeze to 3,500 from the big blind. Nothing to worry Tsaknis, who called, as well as Zanasi, but Baranyai folded.

On the flop 3Q3, Caballo Pena continued with a bet of 3,500. After a few seconds, Tsaknis called, while Zanasi check-folded.

Caballo Pena and Tsaknis checked the turn 8. However, when Caballo checked again the river A, Tsaknis bet 5,500. But Caballo Pena snap-called with A10 for a top pair, while Tsaknis only had 22.

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

In a three-way pot, everybody checked on the flop 3J9. But on the turn 8, Besmir Hodaj bet 600 from the cutoff. Arvin Vahdat called from the big blind, while the third player in the hijack folded.

The 4 came on the river, and Hodaj fired a second barrel of 1,500. Vahdat quickly called, but had to muck his cards after Hodaj showed J10 for a top pair.

Aleksandar Tomovic

Jonathan Humphrey bet 500 from the cutoff and was called by Aleksandar Tomovic in the small blind and Yehor Shumeiko in the big blind.

All three players checked the Q43 flop, but Humphrey made the delayed continuation bet on the K turn for 1,000. Tomovic raised to 2,500 which got Shumeiko to fold and the Brit called.

The 6 completed the board and Humphrey bet 2,900. Tomovic called and Humphrey tabled 63 for a rivered two pair which was good enough to take the pot.

A First Small Pot for Turchi

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Right after the table opened, Lars Garp raised to 600 from under the gun. Virgile Turchi called from the cutoff, and Michael Horn called from the button too.

The dealer fanned a flop of K62, but nobody took the risk to bet. On the turn 8, all three of them waited a few seconds to make a decision, but once again, they checked. The 3 didn't change anything, so they kept checking.

All together, they flipped their cards. Gary showed Q10 for a queen-high. But Turchi had 44. Thanks to this small pair, he won his first hand of the tournament.

Yasuhiro Waki

The floor was called to table 98 as a befuddled Jorge Ufano in the hijack was staring down Yasuhiro Waki in the cutoff. Waki moved all in for 36,100 on the completed board of 8735K, with only 11,000 chips in the middle.

The floor staff began a 30-second countdown and Ufano continued to stare down Waki who remained as still as a rock. Ufano folded with four seconds left and Waki took in the pot.

Koloszar Check-Raises on the Turn

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

Moments after Vivian Saliba sat down and took a selfie to announce her arrival on Instagram, Khalil Youssafi at her table opened to 500 from under the gun. He was only called by Daniel Koloszar in the big blind.

On a flop of 296, both players decided to check, so they moved on to the turn A.

This time, Youssafi threw a red chip worth 1,000 in front of him. But Koloszar check-raised to 2,400. Youssafi quickly folded, revealing A8.

Merfeldas Gets Paid by Tsaknis

Level 2 : Blinds 100/200, 200 ante

With 16,000 in the middle on the completed board of J768K, Arvydas Merfeldas in the cutoff made a near pot-sized bet of 15,500.

Vasileios Tsaknis went into the tank and eventually made a sigh-call throwing in a solitary chip. He saw bad news however as the Lithuanian tabled 77 for a flopped set which was good enough to take down the pot.

Rens Buijs
Rens Buijs

With 18,000 in the middle on the turn with a board of 10739, Rens Buijs bet 8,500 from the hijack and was met with a shove from Leandro Dirlewanger in the big blind. Bujis called for his tournament life without hesitation for 21,400 chips.

Rens Buijs: J8
Leandro Dirlewanger: QQ

Buijs made a straight on the turn and Dirlewanger was drawing dead. The inconsequential 6 completed the board and Bujis enjoyed an early double-up whilst Dirlewanger is left with crumbs.
