The Scherle and De Souza Saga Continues

Level 3 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

In a pot that hand around 25,000 chips in the middle on a full board of 7108KJ, Belarmino De Souza fired 8,000 on the river into Fabian Scherle. It took some time but Scherle eventually tossed in the call, and saw bad news.

De Souza showed J9 for a straight, and Scherle said he had aces before sending his cards into the muck.

Baranek Goes For Thin Value With an Overpair, Encounters Wieckenberg's Straight

Level 3 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

On a flop of 563 with around 3,500 in the middle, Rene Baranek bet 1,500, and Jan Wieckenberg called. A J came on the turn and again Baranek fired a bet, this time with a sizing of 3,000, which Wieckenberg called again.

When the 2 dropped on the river, Baranek fired his third bullet into the pot of 6,600, and Wieckenberg snap-called.

Baranek confidently flipped QQ, but was disappointed to see the 54 of Wieckenberg, who had rivered a straight.

Paulius Mikaliunas opened the action with a raise to 1,200 from under the gun. Erik van Hulst then three-bet to 3,500 on the button, which Sirzat Hissou cold called in the big blind.

Mikaliunas did not deem that enough and reraised to 12,000. Van Hulst called the four-bet before Hissou back-raised to 40,000.

Mikaliunas spent some time in the tank, after which he jammed all in for 100,300. Van Hulst quickly folded but Hissou snap called to a showdown.

Paulius Mikaliunas: AA All in
Sirzat Hissou: KK

The ultimate cooler had occurred, and the 87QQ2 board brought no salvation for Hissou. He paid Mikaliunas his double-up and was left with 21,000, which he would lose not much later to be eliminated.

Oikonomou Gets Hero'd

Level 3 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Niklas Astedt made a raise to 1,200 under the gun and was called by Markus Lehner in the seat next to him. Panagiotis Oikonomou three-bet to 2,600 in the hijack, receiving two callers.

The 284 flop was checked to him. He bet 6,000, folding out Astedt's KQ and stringing Lehner along to a 9 turn. That turn was quickly checked through, leading to the 7 river emerging from the deck.

Lehner checked to Oikonomou for a third time. He tossed out a hefty bet of 11,000, which Lehner quickly called. Oikonomou opened JJ for an overpair.

Lehner had tried to play the hero with his 33 but swiftly added his cards to the muck, surrendering a portion of his large stack to Oikonomou, who chipped back up to nearly one starting stack.
