Lakerveld’s Bluff Falls Flat as Süss Strikes with a Straight

Level 12 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The board was showing KQQ10, and the pot had already built up to around 24,000 chips. Daniel Lakerveld, from the big blind, kicked things off with a bold bet of 18,000. Marco Süss, sitting in the hijack, took a moment to think it over but ultimately decided to call.

When the J hit the river, Lakerveld checked, sending the action back to Süss. He mulled it over for a bit but opted to check as well. Then, Lakerveld flipped over 86 for a daring bluff. But Süss wasn’t fazed—he showed AQ for a rivered straight, leaving Lakerveld's bluff looking pretty weak.

Straight Talk: The Shocking Turn of Events

Level 12 : Blinds 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

With around 11,000 already sitting in the pot, the flop revealed 7108, and Petr Targa was the first to take action. He fired out a bet of 4,500, only for Mateusz Moolhuizen on the button to call without hesitation.

When the J hit the turn, Targa decided to check, and Moolhuizen took the opportunity to ramp up the pressure with a bet of 9,000. Targa thought it over but eventually called, curious to see where this was headed.

The river brought the 5, and Targa checked once again. Moolhuizen wasn’t holding back; he made a bet of 12,000, which Targa called again.

When it came time for the showdown, Moolhuizen revealed 64, grinning as he said, "I don’t have the nine; I just have a small straight."

Targa took a moment to process what had just unfolded, realizing Moolhuizen had indeed outplayed him. After some contemplation, he mucked his hand, and with that, Moolhuizen continued to build his stack.

PokerNews jumped into the action with the flop revealing 5AA and a pot sitting at about 17,000. Ankit Ahuja, in the small blind, checked it over to Patrick Baranyai, who responded with a bet of 5,000. Ahuja wasn’t having any of it and raised to 12,500, prompting Baranyai to call.

When the 9 hit on the turn, Ahuja checked again, but Baranyai decided it was time to push all in, covering Ahuja’s stack. Ahuja didn’t hesitate and snap-called, showing 99 for a full house. Baranyai turned over K9 for two pair, but it wasn’t going to cut it this time.

The river brought the 4, sealing the deal for Ahuja’s double-up while Baranyai was left to trim down some of his still impressive stack.
