Simone Andrian
Simone Andrian

Last year at King’s Resort, Simone Andrian took down the coveted 2024 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event bracelet and a career-best score of €1,300,000.

Andrian became the 15th player in history to win the WSOPE Main Event, triumphing over a field of 768 entrants. He ultimately defeated Urmo Velvelt in a gripping heads-up duel that lasted over three hours and saw the chip lead change hands multiple times.

“It’s amazing. By far the biggest score of my career. I couldn’t be more happy” he said following his victory. "I’ve been playing here a lot and to have that kind of score here feels special.”

Alkiviadis Stamatis Eliminated in 10th Place (€23,000)

Level 33 : 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante
Alkiviadis Stamatis

Besnik Aruqi made it 1,200,000 from the cutoff before Gal Naim three-bet the button to 2,500,000. Alkiviadis Stamatis, who was seated in the big blind, burned through a few of his time banks before four-bet jamming for 6,275,000. Aruqi folded, but Naim snap-called.

Gal Naim: A9

Stamatis found the perfect spot with pocket jacks, and just needed to fade an unfortunate runout to double up.

Naim repeatedly said "ace, ace, ace," as the dealer fanned out the 264 flop. Naim's pleas went unanswered again on the 3 turn, and Stamatis just needed to fade an ace on the river to keep the tournament on the final table bubble.

Naim's request for an ace continued as the dealer burned a card, then peeled off the A on the river to give Naim the winning hand. Naim raised his arms and erupted in celebration at having rivered the winner. After a few moments, Naim apologized to Stamatis and said, "Sorry, I love you," to which Stamatis responded with, "I love you too."

Stamatis headed to the cashier's desk to collect his tenth-place payout, while Naim went to the final table with a stack of 26,425,000.

Zappala Turns Trips

Level 33 : Blinds 250,000/500,000, 500,000 ante

Francesco Zappala opened from under the gun to 1,000,000 with A8 and Christophe Vincent defended his big blind with Q6.

They went to a flop of 897, where both checked to the 8 turn, which gave Zappala trips. Vincent bet 1,300,000 with his straight draw, and Zappala called.

A 6 on the river checked through, and Zappala took it down with trips.

After just losing that massive pot with seven-deuce, Daniel Elhaiany shoved the cutoff for 1,550,000 and Stanislav Koleno called in the small blind.

Stanislav Koleno: QJ

Elhaiany had a chance to get back into it, but instead he was out in 11th as the J256K runout gave Koleno a pair of jacks.

Daniel Elhaiany opened the button to 800,000 and Stanislav Koleno three-bet the big blind to 3,000,000. Elhaiany looked at the stack of his opponent to see he had around 13,000,000, then started burning through time banks. Eventually, Elhaiany shoved, and Koleno called off his stack to create a monster pot.

Elhaiany had the worst hand in poker and went for glory with it. There was still a chance for him to win the pot, but after the 5QJ flop, that was a longshot. It was all over by the time the 3 hit the turn, with the 8 on the river completing Koleno's flush.

Naim Takes From Manfredi

Level 32 : Blinds 200,000/400,000, 400,000 ante

Gal Naim opened to 800,000 from the cutoff and was called by Roberto Manfredi who defended from the big blind.

Both players checked the 88K flop leading to the 3 turn where Naim bet 400,000. Manfredi however check-raised to 1,300,000. Naim made the call.

On the 9 river, Manfredi bet 1,500,000 but Naim raised to 5,500,000 to quickly make Manfredi fold.
