Nicolas Antouard was getting up out of his chair, and his short-stack was being passed to Lulei Hu, after Antouard's K♣Q♦ ended up second best against Hu's A♠9♣ across the J♦7♣6♠5♥A♣ runout.
Marcin Kacprzak opened from the hijack and David Hu three-bet the cutoff. Zakaria Nadmi cold-called from the big blind, and Kacprzak also called, creating a pot of around 1,700,000.
On the 4♥7♣2♦ flop, it checked to Hu, who continued for 425,000. Nadmi called, and Kacprzak got out of the way.
When the 4♦ dropped on the turn, Nadmi checked and was faced with a jam from Hu, who had around 900,000. Nadmi didn't think for too long before he called.
David Hu: Q♠Q♣
Zakaria Nadmi: 10♦10♣
Nadmi had one shot at two outs with his pocket tens, but couldn't connect with the river as the K♦ rolled off, which gave Hu a huge double-up.
In the next hand, Nadmi shoved the small blind and got called by Marian Kubis in the big blind.
Zakaria Nadmi: Q♥10♦
Marian Kubis: A♥5♣
Nadmi was up on his feet after the 3♥K♦3♣ flop was fanned, but the J♣A♣ runout gave him Broadway and a chance at a comeback.
Marian Kubis moved all in for 135,000 in the cutoff and Petre Anghel called on the button. Antonello Ferraiuolo then reshoved in the small blind, and Anghel folded.
Marian Kubis: A♥8♣
Antonello Ferraiuolo: A♠K♣
Kubis was dominated and at risk, but the 8♥7♣2♣ flop gave him top pair and the lead. The rest of the board came 5♦Q♥ and he tripled up.
The next hand at this table, Zakaria Nadmi shoved for 430,000 in middle position and David Hu called in the big blind.
Zakaria Nadmi: J♠7♠
David Hu: A♥3♣
Hu hit top pair on the A♦Q♦2♣ flop to leave Nadmi drawing thin, and the 4♣ turn had him drawing dead going to the 10♣ river as he was sent to the rail.
Felix Kretschmann opened to 200,000, and Hueseyin Selcuk defended the big blind.
On the J♠4♥2♣ flop, Selcuk check-called versus a bet of 150,000 from Kretschmann.
The same pattern followed on the 9♠ turn, this time in respect of a bet of 410,000 from Kretschmann.
The A♠ hit on the river, and Selcuk checked once more. Kretschmann applied ultimate pressure by moving all in, asking for the rest of Selcuk's 1,775,000 stack.
Selcuk sighed and thought it through for a reasonable period of time, but ultimately folded to send Kretschmann another pot.
Sergiu Cornea opened to 225,000 from the button, but Marius Gicovanu in the small blind three-bet to 740,000.
Cornea called, and the dealer fanned a flop of K♥4♠5♦. Gicovanu continued for 425,000 and got Cornea to fold.
Cornea opened again in the next hand. Gicovanu called, but Miroslav Matula in the small blind three-bet to 850,000. Cornea quickly folded, while Gicovanu went into the tank. He eventually folded as well.
Sergiu Cornea opened to 200,000 from early position, and was met with a three-bet to 500,000 from Tomas Chrobak in the small blind, leaving himself 50,000 behind. Cornea moved all in, and Chrobak quickly called it off.
Tomas Chrobak: A♦J♥
Sergiu Cornea: Q♦J♠
Chrobak had Cornea dominated, and his double-up was confirmed by the K♣7♣7♥7♦10♣ runout.
Alexandru Izuric moved all in from under the gun and Przemyslaw Szymanski called in the small blind, the two players having nearly identical stacks.
Przemyslaw Szymanski: A♠K♥
Alexandru Izuric: 7♠7♦
With each player's tournament hopes riding on the race situation, the dealer turned over the 9♠5♥2♥ flop. Izuric's pair remained in the lead on the 10♦ turn, while the J♥ fell on the river to secure him the pot.
The stacks were counted down and Izuric had Szymanski's remaining 1,075,000 covered, sending him to the rail.
