Glaser Misses Out on Bracelet #9 as Theuma Wins WSOPE €1,100 Mystery Bounty Opener
Corel Theuma claimed victory in Event #1: €1,100 Opener Mystery Bounty, topping a field of 2,195 entries to capture his first bracelet after defeating Maksim Paniak heads-up.
Theuma earned €150,000 from the €2,195,000 prize pool, which was split evenly between the regular payouts and mystery bounty prizes, with additional bounty rewards boosting his overall haul.
Sixteen players returned to King's Casino at Hilton Prague for the final day, with Benny Glaser leading the field as he chased a ninth bracelet. However, his run came to an end in fifth place when his ace-seven was cracked by the jack-ten of Janis Kulikauskis.
Mihai-Cristian Tabac exited in fourth place before Kulikauskis bowed out in third, setting up the heads-up clash between Theuma and Paniak.
Paniak began heads-up with a slight advantage, but Theuma moved ahead when he flopped an eight-high straight and snapped off Paniak’s turn hsove to take a commanding lead of more than six-to-one.
In the final hand, Paniak shoved preflop with ace-eight and Theuma called with king-nine. Theuma rivered a straight to seal the victory and secure his first WSOP bracelet.
