Akmert Cracks Trips and Aces with Lucky River
Level 3
: Blinds 200/400, 400 ante
There was around 14,000 on the middle on the 9♠9♣2♠7♣ board, with three players in the mix.
Corel Theuma checked from the big blind before the cutoff jammed for 16,000. Erdem Akmert reshoved for 21,000 and Theuma called as the covering stack.
Cutoff: A♥A♦
Erdem Akmert: 8♠8♣
Corel Theuma: J♥9♥
Theuma had both opponents drawing to two outs, but the 8♦ river put Akmert from worst to first. His unlikely two-outer sealed him the checkmark with a full house, and boosted his stack to 72,000 while the cutoff departed dejectedly.
