As the players went on break, a hand was still taking place on Table #103.
Hengtao Zhu opened to 320,000 from the hijack and Lazare Kalebashvili defended his big blind.
Kalebashvili wasted little time in check-calling bets of 300,000 and 500,000 on the flop and turn for the final board to read Q♥9♦8♦A♦5♥.
Kalebashvili checked, and then Zhu thought for a few moments before announcing "three million."
Kalebashvili went into the tank, repeatedly rechecking his cards. Two time banks later, he decided to let his hand go, and went on his break.
After the first level of the day, the 22 players of the Main Event are on a 15-minute break.
Sonny Franco opened to 325,000 from middle position and Michael McNicholas called out of his short stack from the small blind.
The J♥8♥4♠ flop checked through to the 9♠ turn, where McNicholas check-called for his last 1,0150,000.
Michael McNicholas: Q♥10♥
Sonny Franco: K♥K♦
Franco's kings were drawing dead as McNicholas had the nuts. The 7♦ river completed the board, and the American doubled up.
Jan Tichacek opened from middle position and Viacheslav Sultanov in the cutoff three-bet to 850,000. Tichacek called.
Sultanov continued for 550,000 on a flop of 4♠8♥9♣. Tichacek check-called. He checked again the 7♣ turn and saw Sultanov moving all-in for approximately 3,100,000. Tichacek called.
Viacheslav Sultanov: K♠K♦
Jan Tichacek: J♠10♠
Tichacek hit a straight on the turn to crack Sultanov's kings. The Q♣ river completed the board and Sultanov was eliminated.
