Clayton Maguire Leads; Moreno, Lewis and Yaginuma Contest as Wynn Millions Plays Down to Final Table

Clayton Maguire and Andrew Moreno
Clayton Maguire and Andrew Moreno

It is time for Day 5 of the$10,000 buy-in, $10,000,000 GTD Wynn Millions which will begin at noon local rime.

Yesterday the field was whittled down from 61 to 18 at a very surprising fast pace, meaning today’s action will feature deeper play as 14 of the remaining 18 players have a chip stack of between 40 and 100 big blinds meaning there is much to be determined today, as the pay jumps become very significant. The first player eliminated today in 18th will take home $97,271, and then it will jump to $111,671 for 17th and 16th, 15th-14th ( $128,645), 13th-12th ($148,456) and 11th-10th ($172,654). Meaning players can nearly double their winnings just by making it through today.

Making it through today is much easier said than done though as the remaining field is full of poker crushers. Including the chip leader Clayton Maguire who has a stack of 4.93 million (99 big blinds). His top career poker score thus far is a $368,159 win twelve years ago in EPT Monte Carlo, meaning anything 5th or better here would make for his largest career score.

Taking the felt today aiming for the $2,018,866 first-place prize are Salim Admon (4.575 million), Philip Shing (4.32 million), Dylan Smith (4.14 million), and Julian Milliard (3.865 million), who round out the top five. Plus, WSOP bracelets winner Sandeep Pulusani (3.845 million) and Anthony Marquez (825,000), Andrew Moreno (3.255 million), Toby Lewis (2.665 million), and WPT champ Ilyas Muradi (2.3 million).

The remaining 18 players will combat today all the way down to a final table, where play will be stopped for the final 9 who will then return to play down to the title on Saturday July 3 at noon local time.

PokerNews will have all the coverage today, as 18 will become 9 for the Wynn Millions final table.

Dylan Smith Eliminated in 18th Place ($97,274)

Level 25 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Dylan Smith

From the button, Dylan Smith raised it up to 100,000. Jaime Cervantes was in the small blind and three-bet to 400,000. Smith popped it to a 900,000 four-bet which Cervantes called.

With a large pot already in the middle the two players saw a flop of {10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{a-Spades}. Cervantes check-called a bet of 500,000.

The turn was the {9-Diamonds}. Cervantes checked again and Smith moved all in for 2,800,000. That sent Cervantes deep into the tank. There was an all in and call at the other table so play was paused in the room as Cervantes weighed the huge decision for the massive pot.

After over four minutes, Cervantes eventually landed on the call button and the cards were turned over. Smith was ahead with two-pair holding the {a-Hearts}{4-Hearts} against Cervantes who had top-pair with the {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}.

But the river was a dirty one as the {9-Clubs} came off to pair the board, counterfeiting Smith's hand and giving Cervantes the best hand with two-pair the queen kicker and sending Smith out the door in 18th place.

Andrew Moreno raised to 120,000 under the gun only to have Ilyas Muradi three-bet to 420,000 two spots over. Valentyn Shabelnyk then four-bet jammed for 1.19 million from the small blind, Moreno folded, and Muradi made the call.

Valentyn Shabelnyk: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}
Ilyas Muradi: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Shabelnyk was a big favorite, but not after the flop came down {2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{q-Hearts} to put a dagger through his heart. Neither the {5-Clubs} turn nor {j-Hearts} river changed a thing and Muradi sent Shabelnyk out the door in 17th place.

Sandeep Pulusani Eliminated in 16th Place ($111,671)

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Sandeep Pulusani
Sandeep Pulusani

WSOP bracelet winner Sandeep Pulusani moved all in for 855,000 from the lojack and Julian Milliard-Feral called next to act in the hijack. The rest of the players got out of the way and the hands were turned up.

Julian Milliard-Feral: {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}
Sandeep Pulusani: {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}

The {8-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} flop gave Pulusani some counterfeit outs, and the {k-Spades} turn added to them. Unfortunately for him, the {7-Spades} river improved Milliard-Feral to a full boat and that was all she wrote for Pulusani.

Anthony Huntsman Eliminated in 15th Place ($128,645)

Level 28 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Anthony Huntsman
Anthony Huntsman

Andrew Moreno raised to 200,000 from the cutoff only to have Anthony Huntsman three-bet all in for 435,000 from the button. Ilyas Muradi called off for 330,000 from the small blind, Jesse Yaginuma folded from the big, and Moreno called to put both players at risk.

Andrew Moreno: {a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}
Anthony Huntsman: {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Ilyas Muradi: {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}

Muradi had the best of it and improved his position on the {6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{k-Spades} flop. The {4-Hearts} turn left Huntsman looking to pair just to stay alive in the small side pot, but that didn't happen as the {7-Spades} bricked on the river.

Muradi tripled in the main pot while Moreno won the small side to eliminate Huntsman.

From early position, Ilyas Muradi moved all in for about 1,320,000. Clayton Maguire was in the big blind and called.

Ilyas Muradi: {a-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Clayon Maguire: {a-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}

Muradi would not get the help that he required as the board ran out {10-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{k-Hearts}{3-Spades}{9-Clubs} and he was gone in 14th place.

Anthony Marquez

Joe Kuether raised to 265,000 from the cutoff. From the button, Anthony Marquez jammed all in for just over a million and Kuether called.

It was a flip with Marquez holding the {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} vs the {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} of Kuether.

The flop put Marquez in trouble as it came {5-Spades}{j-Clubs}{3-Hearts} to pair the jack. The turn was the {a-Diamonds} too improve Kuether but did not change what Marquez needed, a seven, but he did not find it as the {9-Hearts} came on the river to felt him in 13th place.

Hyon Kim: {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Julian Milliard-Feral: {a-Hearts}{7-Spades}

The flop stayed safe for Kim as it came {3-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. But the turn was not safe as the {7-Diamonds} came off to spring Milliard-Feral into the lead. The river was the {3-Hearts} and Kim was eliminated in 12th.

Jesse Yaginuma raised to 250,000 under the gun and Clayton Maguire three-bet to 860,000 from the small blind. Yaginuma proceeded to four-bet jam for 3.63 million and Maguire thought for a bit before making the call.

Clayton Maguire: {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Jesse Yaginuma: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

Yaginuma got it in good but the {7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop did give Maguire a diamond draw. Unfortunately for Yaginuma, it came in when the dealer burned and turned the {3-Diamonds}. The meaningless {k-Clubs} was run out on the river and Yaginum made his way to the payout desk.

Santiago Soriano Elimianted in 10th Place ($172,654)

Santiago Soriano
Santiago Soriano

Julian MIlliard-Feral jammed from the small blind and got snap called by Santiago Soriano in the big blind.

It was for a large portion of Milliard-Feral's stack but it was Soriano who was at risk.

Santiago Soriano: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}
Julian Milliard-Feral: {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}

The flop kept Soriano in good position as it came {q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{9-Clubs}. But the turn put him in a bad situation as the {4-Clubs} came off to put Soriano on the verge of bubbling the final table, which the {5-Diamonds} on the river would confirm and just like that, he walked away in 10th place.
