Qartomy Pays Wong

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

In a three-way pot, Ray Qartomy bet 5,000 into about 13,000 out of the small blind on {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Clubs}. One player folded but Ralph Wong in the cutoff was stickier. Both players checked the {8-Clubs} and the {j-Spades} completed the board.

Qartomy check-called 10,000 but couldn't beat {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}.

Afriat Doubles Through Auer

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Matthias Auer bet 1,300 from the cutoff on a {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} flop and Eric Afriat called in the small blind. Both players checked the {2-Spades}, bringing a {10-Diamonds} river.

Afriat checked and quickly called when Auer set him in for 7,800. Auer showed {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a bluff and Afriat took it with {8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a flush.

Kornuth Down a Bullet

Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

With {7-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} on the felt, Thissa deSilva in the cutoff checked to Chance Kornuth on the button. There was already about 40,000 in the middle and Kornuth looked to have less than 20K back. He stuck that in and was snap-called.

We didn't catch his hand but it was quickly mucked as deSilva showed {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}.

Kornuth bought back in immediately.

Jackson Doubles Through Altman

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Brian Altman opened for 1,600 in middle position and David Jackson shoved for 6,000 on the button. The big blind seemed to seriously consider things before leaving it to Altman.

Altman: {k-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}
Jackson: {q-Diamonds}{j-Spades}

Jackson seemed headed towards needing a reentry as {3-Hearts}{9-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} hit the board but the river was the {j-Diamonds}.

Elias Versus Moorman

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

It looked to be a three-bet pot between Darren Elias on the button and Chris Moorman in the big blind. The flop was {q-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{k-Diamonds} and Moorman bet 5,500 into about 18,000. Elias peeled and both players checked the {k-Hearts} that subsequently fell. On the {3-Hearts} river, Moorman quickly checked and Elias moved in for 18,300.

Moorman tanked about a minute and folded.

Qartomy Smells the Bluff But Still Loses to Aido

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

On a board of {7-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}, Ray Qartomy was in early position trying to decide whether to call all in. He had about 18,000 left and there was 40,000 or so in the middle. Sergio Aido had set him in from a couple of seats over with a stack that didn't cover Qartomy by much.

Eventually, Qartomy stuck his stack in and Aido revealed {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for rivered queens up.

"I can smell the bluff from very far away," Qartomy said ruefully. "I knew you don't have it."

Nonetheless, he mucked anyway, what the dealer revealed to be {k-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.
