Alfa and Carroll Play a Three-Bet Pot

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

Dave Alfa squeezed to 3,600 in the big blind after a middle-position open and a James Carroll call for 1,200 apiece. Only Carroll, in the small blind, continued to the {2-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop. Alfa continued for 3,000 and Carroll called. Both players checked the {j-Clubs} turn and {3-Diamonds} river.

Carroll opened {a-}{q-} but was beaten by {8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

Carroll Building

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante
James Carroll
James Carroll

James Carroll was looking at a completed board of {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{a-Hearts} from early position and he mashed in 23,800, a hair under the size of the pot. The player on the button tank-called but had no recourse but to muck as Carroll had {7-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} for the flopped nuts.

Carroll is coming off a big recent win in an MSPT event here in Las Vegas in which he scooped $180K and seeks to keep the momentum cooking here at the Wynn.

Turn and River Devalue Laplante's Hand

Level 6 : 300/600, 600 ante

The cutoff limped and Ryan Laplante made it 2,500 to go on the button. The cutoff called, and they saw a {2-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} flop that the cutoff check-called for another 2,500. The {2-Clubs} turn and {7-Diamonds} river were checked down and the cutoff revealed what looked like {q-Spades}{9-Spades} before quickly mucking to Laplante's {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}.

Shin has to Chop Aces Full

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante
Mike Shin
Mike Shin

Mike Shin checked in the small blind on {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} and his opponent in the cutoff bet small with 1,800 into about 6,000. Shin made it 6,000 and they went to the {k-Hearts} river for that price. Shin bet big with 20,000. His opponent shoved and Shin quickly called with {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts} but was only chopping with {a-Spades}{8-Spades}.

Qartomy Making it Work

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

It's been a frustrating run so far for Ray Qartomy at the Wynn Spring Classic $3,500 Main Event but he seems to finally be gaining some momentum. He's sitting with about 120,000 after he said he just busted two players, flopping trip kings with {k-Clubs}{10-Clubs} on {a-}{k-}{k-} and seeing one show down {q-}{10-} and the other {a-}{q-}.

Altman Chases Pillai

Level 5 : 300/500, 500 ante

A whole hell of a lot of bets must have gone in preflop between Shankar Pillai on the button and Brian Altman in the small blind as there was about 25,000 in the middle when they took in a {k-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop.

Altman opted for a lead worth 13,500 and Pillai didn't need too long before folding.
